I stopped watching The Americans because they had a graphic sex scene every episode. The one that was very rapey pushed me over the edge. If I'm going to watch that, I will just go straight to porn.

So glad there are other X-Files fans here. That show was literally my life while I was in high school.

The Walking Dead Orphan Black True Detective Downton Abbey Major Crimes How To Get Away With Murder
Okay, that's 6 but... Scandal used to be in my top 5 but I got so freaking sick of the relationship between the President and Olivia that I couldn't take it anymore. I thought they were going to let it go but they never do... Then Millie sitting around in her bathrobe eating fried chicken... I think that was the last episode I watched

Problem? It's a very very good show. I recommend. The first two seasons are on amazon prime and season 3 starts next week for anyone with cable. I watched season 1 bc of the whole, you know, russian thing, but it's sooooo slooooowwww I still have all of season 2 on TiVo. And also, I don't like the actress who plays the main character. Her face annoys me. I don't know....may be I'll have Americans marathon when my kids go to my IL's.....

All time
Star Trek Babylon 5 M*A*S*H Gardening by the Yard Good Eats
Current
Elementary Person of Interest Star Wars Rebels (DD and I are really connecting on this one) America's Test Kitchen
That's it for me on the current. I'm heavily skewed toward Sci-Fi and IMHO there not much of quality on right now. I'd rather spend my time on things I really enjoy.

The only TV show I can name as an absolute favorite was Wiseguy. I tend to lose interest in most shows after the 2nd year but usually catch up down the road with reruns. I will seriously try to think of shows that held my interest beyond second season and get back with you I guess Law & Order - Criminal Intent comes in as a close second though.

LOL, I like Keri Russell but that's how I feel about the daughter, she's just irritating and I think season 3 will focus on her more so not sure how it will go. Anyway, I'll stop talking about it now because thyme4change is making me feel bad about myself for liking it

Pfft, top 5?! That's harsh... there are so many! Sherlock Downton Abbey Criminal Minds Big Bang Theory Friends I still watch Elementary but they lost my devotion after they merged two very different characters into one. Not. even. right. Person of Interest is also on the still watch but will not care if I miss it now list. I didn't have anything but network TV for years and CBS was generally my channel. I'd change it for Dancing with the Stars and Castle. And avoid Survivor like the plague, so The Middle and whatever else was on would get watched.

My list would change from time to time, but if I had to pick only five (in no particular order);
Law & Order (all versions) Star Trek (original only) Gunsmoke Big Bang Theory Price is Right (don't judge me; I never said I was all there in the first place)

I can't narrow it down to five - so I'll narrow it by categories:
Science Fiction: Star Trek (all versions) Battlestar Galactica Firefly Stargate SG-1 Twilight Zone
Current Comedies: Mom Big Bang Theory Mike & Molly
Classic Comedies: That Girl Frasier Bewitched Soap Everybody Loves Raymond
"Reality: Flea Market Flip Auction Hunters Storage Wars
Food: Julia Child Kitchen Nightmares Chopped Worst Chefs
Special Mention: Alfred Hitchcock Presents (old and newer versions)
Guilty Pleasure: Lost in Space
I could also list a few soaps, westerns, and dramas, but I think that's more than enough for a thread that only asked for 5.

One show I just loved was Dead Like Me, I also preferred the British decorating shows BEFORE TLC went nuts.

You'll never be able to whittle it down. There are shows I watch on the speciality channels all the time. I got my fave channels, just not the regular channels.

Okay I know you have all been anxious for my lists. I have made it and checked it twice. So here we go.
Current Favorite Shows: Downton Abbey Criminal Minds CSI The Last Ship (I can't wait for the 2nd season this coming summer) Person of Interest Law & Order SVU Revenge Rizzoli & Isles Major Crimes Madame Secretary Under The Dome BBT Mom Mike & Molly
Past Favorite Shows: ER Friends All In The Family The Closer Mad About You (Been waiting like 2 yrs for them to release the final season) The Odd Couple (I can't wait for the remake with Matthew Perry in Feb!) Fawlty Towers MASH Star Trek (The original only) Sex and the City Desperate Housewives
Honorable mention to....How To Get Away With Murder, Stalker and Scorpion.
NCIS used to be in my top 5 but fell out of favor when they added that awful Bishop character. I still watch but not first run, only on demand a week later because while she is on the show I will NOT contribute to the ratings in any way.

I miss Barney Miller. I like the 1st Bob Newhart too. I rarely watch TV anymore and also don't like much reality TV.

Glad somebody mentioned Soap. I neglected to....
Alias Smith and Jones was usually fun. So is Burn Notice.

There was a show on APTN (Aboriginal Peoples Television Network) that was kind of similar, called "Caution: May Contain Nuts". It was pretty good, but I don't know if it's still on. I haven't seen it in a while.

Yeah, that was a really good show. Typical Canadian humour. It was so funny. Those guys were great. We can't watch any of your Canadian gardening shows here anymore either. They were top notch and I am so ticked off that they aren't available to us anymore.
