France has been exposed in the last week of not having a clue where the terrorists are in the country. The first attack was not expected or prepared for. Okay, I give them a pass on this. You never know what a lone wolf will do. Oh, wait, it was an entire terrorist cell that did it.
That evening, a policeman is shot and killed in a traffic stop/incident. It is immediately stated, the shooting is unrelated to the earlier slaughter. Next morning they announce it is related, and are looking for a man and a woman. Later they publicly state who they are looking for, with pictures and names. Next day, we have the problem of hostages at two locations, and is announced the couple have taken hostages in the Kosher grocery store. After the shoot outs, France is still looking for the woman and do not know how she "escaped the scene".
Then the announcement. She had left the country five days before the shooting. They did not have a clue. I imagine part of the problem is the media demanding answers to the situation, but announcing she was involved physically in and at the attack sites, when she is out of country is quite simply, unacceptable. Turkey, of all countries, had to tell them she went through their security and left for Syria..... So much for the international war on terrorism. We have seen the world leaders are tone deaf on terrorism, want to work on it only when it is a half a world away from their country, rather than cooperate between nations and solve the problem in your home country, as well as somewhere else in the world. The Pink Panther is alive and well.

I should also start a thread on the DOD having their twitter account hacked by ISIS yesterday as it seems no one wants to comment on this. Or was it the North Koreans who wanted to embarrass the President?
Anyway it looks like we have nothing on the Pink Panther here in the states either.

Maybe with Marie Antionette, but it did not work out too well for her.

you familiar with the Battle Of Algiers? well worth watching if you have two hours. score by Ennio Morricone! it is too bad our strategic planners on the terror war have no sense of history. but they clearly don't. what they did in 2002-2006 was pretty much the same thing that France did in 1956-7. the outcome was also predictably terrible. and the 50 year history since this time has been predictable for France. terrorism will never stop in the US so long as our policies involve brutality, occupation, and little else.

Unless they have a way to hack into other accounts.......

VB- i really DO recommend that film. it is first rate, and has a LOT of parallels to our modern tragedy in Iraq. a LOT. it is actually kinda creepy.
that film turns 50 next year.
