The governor’s office confirmed that Christie flew at Jones’ expense by private jet to the event with his family. Neither the governor’s office nor a Cowboys VP of publicity, Rich Dalrymple, could say whether the Christies flew in Jones’ personal 2001 Gulfstream V, or in another private jet Jones provided. Dalrymple said the Christies did not lodge at Jones’ residence during their time in Dallas.
Dean Browning, the chief financial officer of New World Aviation in Allentown, Pa., said the current cost to operate a Gulfstream 5 is about $3,700 an hour. A trip from New Jersey to the Cowboys AT&T Stadium in Arlington is roughly three hours.
The tens of thousands of dollars worth of airfare and entertainment paid for by Jones is “not considered a contribution” to Christie’s campaign, but instead a gift to the governor, according to Joseph Donohue, deputy director of the state Election Law Enforcement Commission. As such, it falls to the state’s ethics panel to decide if it violates any statutes.

I'm surprised no one posted about this yet. Unfortunately I am not finding the column or article on nj.com that contained what Christie said about ethics in 2007(?)
What do posters think? Ethics problem or not?

Oh please. The Obamas have been living the Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous on the public dole so spare me. If Jones paid his way what is the big damn deal? Trying to make hay out of NOTHING. Wow.

That's why Camp David was invented as Presidential Retreat. So, they weren't flying off overseas or to Hawaii spoiling other people's weddings.
But, I dont' really care what Obama does. But, don't try to make political hay and feign '"outrage" over this . Your hypocrisy is shining like a blinking beacon!

He's allowed to accept gifts from friends. The only thing I read said it has to be from personal funds. I'm pretty sure Jerry Jones can foot the bill for running a jet for a couple hours. He was in Jerry's suite so I doubt there's a ticket cost there. I highly doubt Jerry Jones is looking for political favors in New Jersey. I think most of the people are just bitter he's a Cowboys fan.

The New Jersey Republican governor, whose trip to Dallas last weekend was paid for in full by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, reportedly pushed the Port Authority to approve a contract for a company that was partly owned by Jones.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Christie and New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo selected Legends Hospitality LLC in March 2013 to run the top-floor observation deck at One World Trade Center, following a “competitive public procurement process.”
The board of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, appointed by Christie and Cuomo, subsequently approved the proposed contract for the company.
Legends Hospitality is jointly owned by the New York Yankees, the Checketts Partners Investment fund and the Dallas Cowboys, which itself is owned and run by Jerry Jones. Officials have not disclosed the financial terms of the deal, but the new observation deck is expected to create $875 million in revenue over 15 years, The Journal reported.

i think Christie has what one might term "a pattern of troublesome behavior". now, he may be squeaky clean, but he has some 'splainin' to do.

Seems a little more reasonable than what McDonnell tried to get away with and is now serving 2 years.

I put this one in the individual voter's discretion file, maybe sleazy but not illegal. Don't like it, don't vote for the guy.

I'm guessing this is probably typical behavior for a New Jersey politician, just got national attention because it's Christie, and he may be plotting a presidential run.

You DO know they had those earthquakes near Dallas not long after he was there, right? All that jumpin' and jivin' in the Jerry Jones Suite must have moved something.

Looks like he was having fun with his friends. I'm not going to make fun of his weight because that's kind of hurtful to people who have weight control problems. Seems to be a regular guy though, having a good time. We could use some of that normalcy in the White House.

Just gotta get a grin when those on the side that have called him Hussein or her Moochelle or other denigrations get a bit squirmy over some obvious sarcasm. Well, I don't know you. You could have been serious. I've recently met a whole slew of people on another board who think exactly like that.

Very true, but still not acceptable, imo Nothing your favorite poster hasn't said before. I don't see you admonishing him. Ever. You have no real idea who my "favorite poster" is. If you want to know, I will pm you. Let me know. I was just being polite and posted a reply. I have never used such descriptions. Still believe it's in bad taste. And, when terms such as this is used, there are plenty of opposing viewers who call people out on it, and stating it. I thought it was in bad taste, and I did not really calling dondub out on it. imo This thread is about Jeb Bush, and possible Republican nominees/contestants, if you had not noticed. Weltz has opposing views from mine, and she did not catch the sarcasm, which actually surprised me. She should spend more time here!
EDIT! Oops! I thought this was the Jeb Bush thread. Sorry about the miss by me.....

I guess you have missed all the times the B. Hussein and Moochelle have been used here, or forgot to castigate that or those posters for their indiscretions.
I will expect that from now on....

How true. With B. Hussein and Moochelle Negro living there it could hardly be considered normal. I know, we need someone in there that would help with the increasing partisan divide. The constant demonizing of the "other sides" viewpoint doesn't help run the country.
