I (and lots of other girls in high school) had a crush on this young man. Track star, cute as all get out, and very charming and sweet. He's been in the paper a lot lately, but not for his track records. Hard to believe he's only 45....

On the plus side, at least he kept the mullet.

Oh, wow, that is shocking! So sad to see people waste their lives like that.

Oh, wow, that is shocking! So sad to see people waste their lives like that. I know. I took younger son to a pancake breakfast at the high school a few weeks ago and was looking at the Hall of Fame shrine and pics of him from the late 80's on the wall. He had SO MUCH potential.

He's not on meth but my neighbor since childhood is an alcoholic. Last time I saw him in person I was floored by how terrible he looks. He's two years younger than me. If you didn't know that you'd think I was lying.
He had a lot of potential too. The state revoked his teaching license for getting convicted of a DUI and it's been a downhill slide since.

His latest arrest was for some felony drug charge and he was also charged with keeping a "disorderly house", I was wondering how bad of a mess your house had to be before you got a misdemeanor for it, but then they described it and it sounded almost unlivable.

The world's loss.

Here in Florida, it's pretty common to see people who you think could be anywhere from 38 to 68 years old. Between the sun, drugs, etc., we get some very, very leathery "younger" people.
Cameron Diaz' roommate in "Something About Mary" was not all that far fetched.

On the front page of my hometown paper was a story about a guy that eluded police on a wild chase through 3 cities and ended up crashing over a bridge into the river, where he had to be rescued. Even in the water he tried to flee and was taunting officers. Turns out we grew up together in that he was our next door neighbor for a few years, and we were probably in school together. he was good looking kid but the mug shot definitely shows he has issues. Sad, really.

I'm starting to look like the OP's friend, but it's stress from my kids that's causing it.

Uh oh--I'd better go back home and start cleaning up toys, clothes, etc.! Hmm, could I use that "disorderly house" charge against my kids?? (All kidding aside, the guy bears a resemblance to my dad when he was in his 60's. It makes me sad.)

Doesn't keeping a disorderly house mean a place where people commit crimes? Like a brothel or a crack house or something?

Doesn't keeping a disorderly house mean a place where people commit crimes? Like a brothel or a crack house or something? Could be. They found lots of bath salts and drug paraphernalia and he had people living with him, but this was the description of the house. Investigators found the house cluttered and in general disarray, according to court documents. The kitchen was cluttered with dirty dishes and decaying food, with no clean spot to eat or prepare a meal. The refrigerator reeked of rotten food and contained nothing edible, and there was “a strange, strong, rotten odor coming from somewhere near the couch in the living room.”
The report states that three warrants had been served at the address in the past, the latest coming in October 2013, and that living conditions in the house had steadily deteriorated since.

Oh man, that sounds creepy as hell. Hope they don't find a former room mate mashed up under the sofa cushions...

The mystery to me is why anyone ever tries meth to begin with - "here, try some of this, it's as toxic as an industrial cleaner, will make you think your skin is on fire, will make you stay awake for days on end, will make you deeply paranoid, just one shot of it and you might be hooked for life, and you'll most likely never be able to kick the habit."
I can see the appeal of alcohol, or smoking pot. Those are fun things to do, at least until you start developing an addiction. Never saw anyone on meth who appeared to be having fun, and who didn't look half dead.

I don't get it either, but wasn't it this board that had someone that knew several people that used it recreationaly and were fine? A waitress was one I recall. She was beautiful, no lost teeth, could work all night.

I tried it once many years ago. I was junior high aged, 13 maybe? It was kind of great actually. You're totally lucid, unlike something like pot or alcohol that inhibits your ability to function, although that can be fun once in a while too. You have so much energy. Like so much. It feels like that one day when you wake up after a perfect night of sleep, have a cup of coffee, and feel ready and willing to tackle anything. It's that feeling, but it lasts for hours. I cleaned my room, like really cleaned it, washed baseboards and everything, and I enjoyed it. I completely enjoyed cleaning. Keep in mind I'm a teenager at the time. It's a god damn wonder drug. Too bad regular usage fucks you up so bad. Jeez Dark...13? I'm trying to picture my son with a meth pipe and I can't. He's just a baby yet.

I think there are some that can use recreationally, but you never know if you're going to be that guy that can't just do it once and walk away.

Sounds like he was mainly into bath salts now since that's what they found and not meth. But, I know meth was what he used to use...at least that's what past convictions were for.
