I'm so glad I have the week off! BF has to work tomorrow, but he's a good snow driver and just takes his time. He can also go in late no problem. I do have to take the cat to the vet and I have a hair appointment, so the snow and wind better stop when I need it!

it's been snowing since 1PM today non-stop when I first noticed (in New Jersey). So I sent an email I'm taking a vacation day for Monday just in case someone wanted me to work from home. LOL plus I bank work...meaning the work I "secretly" finished Friday I sent in today as if I worked today. funny! I told my chick I would dig out the cars at 9PM. I took two Tylenol at 7PM for back preparation. But now I can hear the wind is seriously blowing, and the new neighbor shoveled her front steps (maybe not knowing the Mexicans will be here first thing in the morning to shovel us out) and it's all covered up by new snow. Maybe I'll hold off till 11PM

I've shoveled twice already and am preparing for a third effort. It is nasty cold out there with a crazy wind chill factor.

Man I love living in a condo. I've heard the plow a couple of times, and I have no responsibility for shoveling

How does anybody ever debate that? I stayed home from work 11 years ago so I guess I'm not being objective.

ok that DIDN'T work out too well. even if I would have shoveled earlier! the snow is up against the screen door and I had to push a bit to get out & on the sidewalk it's past my knees I'm 6'4" so the snow is about a little over 2 feet deep then made my way down to the street and the city plow has come through a few times and the snow is pushed up onto the sidewalk about 5 feet- then in the driveway. the apartment plow pushed up the snow above the hood blocking us in. I just shoveled out driver side of my chicks car (my car is tooo low to the ground). Snow IS soft - but I'll wait till the Mexicans come dig us out completely and somehow dig out her car. normally they (day workers I'm guessing) get here about 8AM - hope there is a lot more of them this year. I don't remember a time of snow being this deep!

Man I love living in a condo. I've heard the plow a couple of times, and I have no responsibility for shoveling excuse me J - but did your snow get removed yesterday? our Mexicans / day labors/ no one came by! I'm like what the hell! Our maintenance guy did only HALF the sidewalk. He didn't cover our section and went up to as far as where the tree had fallen - turned around with his snow blower and went back inside. THEN I discovered this morning after digging out my chicks car maintenance pushed the snow right up against her car! I'm still confused cause there are TWO empty spaces that were empty all night -WHERE THEY ALREADY DID SOME PLOWING!! so umm..J did you get shoveled out yesterday?

Yeah -- the plow came by like 3 times during the night, then in the morning they shoveled out the cars, then we had to move them so they could clear the snow around the parking spots.

I'm going to be upset when someone parks in the space I shoveled out!

Our townhouse maintenance crew was great. They started plowing 6PM Sunday, and made several runs through the complex all night long. They even managed to find time to do our sidewalks once, even though they got covered again. On Monday, they came around again and also cleared some of the parking spaces. I just spoke to DW who's home and she said since most people have gotten out to go to work, they're now clearing all the remaining snow from the parking spots. J is right. It's good to have someone else deal with it. That's right; I have no shame in saying that either.

It's almost 40 degrees right now, so this snow should be gone in a few days anyway.

yea you're right MB! so I'll dig my car out tonight so I can drive tomorrow. It's too low to the ground to get out the driveway and the side street. The main roads I were on today are great!

It's time to deploy the "Pittsburgh Parking Chair" though I doubt it would be honored since you don't live in Pittsburgh. Here people retain their parking spaces (even in non-snow weather) with a chair. Everyone respects that the space belongs to a resident and no one parks there.

No shoveling, no black ice here...oh, this is South Florida. We get a wind chill in the low 30s or high 20s sometimes. Makes the palm trees rustle a bit. ;D

That sounds downright warm compared to here. I felt so bad when I had to drag DD out the past couple of mornings at 6:15 a.m. It's been so bitter cold here. Yesterday morning it was 19 with a windchill of 0. If I had an icon for "Burrrr," I would use it!

I think I'm raising polar bears. DD refuses to wear hat and mittens, and doesn't like her coat zipped up. I'm not gonna fight with her about it, when she gets cold enough, she asks me to zip her coat and put on her hat and mittens.

My brother is on the west side of the state, but north of where Cheesey is, and even though they are not too far from the ocean, they get no warming effect from the Gulf. He is in the teens as well.

LOL. DD mostly stays bundled. She pulls her hat off in the car, but she'll leave it on outside. She's really into winter wear all of the sudden, mostly because she seems to think it's funny. She'll come up to me with her mittens and indicate she wants them on. Then she'll run around the house laughing and wearing them. She's also discovered my scarves, which she thinks are pretty funny too.

Maintenance did a great job by the time I got home tonight. the plowed the rest of the parking spaces and cleared out all the sidewalks. So I'll stay home and dig my car out Wednesday. Roads and driveway appear to be back to normal and I can drive over them.
