Some folks believe the homeless in the United States should be sent away to cold, foreign counties. But these quotes below (and more at the link) address how true Christians should treat the homeless. Proverbs 19:17 ESV / Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed. Matthew 8:20 ESV / And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.” Luke 3:10-11 ESV / And the crowds asked him, “What then shall we do?” And he answered them, “Whoever has two tunics is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise.” Matthew 25:40-45 ESV / And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’ “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ Matthew 25:35 ESV / For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me.' Matthew 25:35-36 ESV / For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ What Does The Bible Say About Homelessness

I don't care what the Bible says I'm not letting any naked homeless people or from prison visit me. No how no way. But I will donate to the cause to feed them and give them a safe place to sleep and we donate good clean clothes and shoes on a regular basis.

I'm all for helping those who are willing to help themselves. But nothing for those who won't.

New International Version For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: "The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat." 2 Thes 3:10
Parable of the talents Matthew 25
26 “His master replied, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? 27 Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest.
28 “‘So take the bag of gold from him and give it to the one who has ten bags. 29 For whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them. 30 And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Parable of the Ten Virgins Matthew 25
“Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. 8 The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.’
9 “‘No,’ they replied, ‘there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’
10 “But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut.
11 “Later the others also came. ‘Lord, Lord,’ they said, ‘open the door for us!’
12 “But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I don’t know you."

Not many Christian's can realistically house the homeless, but we can do what Peace Of Mind does- Give, (in all sorts of ways), generously, to those organizations facilitating the massive work of housing the homeless- Big box ministries such as the Salvation Army comes to mind, Rescue Mission another. Or whatever ministry you trust in. Most every religious organization (church & other) I personally know, help alleviate the hunger and clothing problem in some degree for those within their local church, and in their community. Not only that- Resources are provided to help educate and train the needy to become productive citizens for the first time in their lives, and for some, once again. The truly poor need help, beginning with our own needy family members. The lazy. Not.

Christians are taught to live in poverty and give away everything they have to help those less fortunate. I am not sure how often that happens.
