Malarky, Under the "Re: Numbering Posts" it says "Reply #1" on verrip1 and mine is "Reply#2"

Malarky - an opening post is the only one without a number. If you look at anyone's message [after the first one] at the top beside the little blue box, there is a "Reply # and time it was posted.

also, when you see the "NEW" icon next to the thread title, you can click that and it takes you to the first unread post since the last time you read it. Rovo found that out yesterday..
