How do I "tag" someone???

Do you see the SPOILER button, three from that is the tagging button before you hit the YouTube button. When you highlight it it says "Insert User Link".

That made NO sense at all.  You don't speak "technically challenged" so allow me. 

Look above your box where you reply and you will see this: 

Click on that and it will give you options of names.  i.e. Peace of Mind.  Start typing peace (it will show you options that you can choose from that have that name).   You have to see what that person's name is first as their posting name and sign up name are usually different.  You can hover over their name or click on their name to find that info. or just do what I do and keep putting in letters until you see their name pop up in the suggestions offered when you click on the . 

OR

Type the "@" and the person's name to tag them. i.e. @ezzie (@ ezzie (no space though) or   Peace Of Mind  (@ peaceofmind no space) if you know their name already.

I right clicked on it to get the properties and you post it like you would a picture using this box: 

images.proboards.com/v5/images/bbcode/membersearch.png is the properties for

Testing, testing........   Does this really work? If POM is tagged does it mean she has to run after someone else to tag "you are it"? That's the way we played it in the 60's. Yes I remember a little of the 60's.

Sometimes though, the person's display name isn't the same as their user name, as in my case.. my display name is moonbeam, but my USER name is admin. therefore, if you were to manually type @moonbeam, it wouldn't work right. so, if you're not sure what to type, you can hover over the name in the mini profile and it'll show you the user name.

using the button searches both username or display name, btw.

If you use Firefox, you can also right click the image and select "copy image location" from the menu that appears. Then click on the button and paste. VOILA!

it doesn't appear this is an option in IE, and i didn't check chrome. Just a slightly quicker/simpler method, in my opinion.

But if you click on the "tag button" and start tying in moonbeam you will come up moon/Laura as one of the choices. I never hover over to see what the "real" user name is. Now I'll have to go check out some that I know have changed their names completely for the holidays and see if I can type current name and see if this works.  Seemed to before.

I don't think we were being CRITICS and EXPERTS just saying how we do it. Guess you should blame the OP for asking the question on a thread. I think she is reasonably new to the board and just asked for help. Guess next time we'll just wave our hands and ask permission to venture a reply since we aren't EXPERTS.....

yes, and since the button searches both, i think it's the best choice. people know what display name they're looking for way more often than the user name.

just figured i'd throw the manual method out there too, though, just in case anyone cared.. lol.
