I use a Medic-Alert necklace (sterling) ~ bracelets bug me. I ordered the blank one online, and then just had a local jewelry place do the engraving that I wanted

I am now home with my shiny new pacemaker. Pa, I had that Medic Alert one too with entering meds etc. The one time I need to use it, the paramedic said " I don't have time for that". So, there I was in the squad trying to remember what I took back then and the dosage.
Today, I just want one that says "right side mastectomy and Pacemaker." I now carry a laminated card wit meds listed, and now will add to that the pacemaker info.

BG, the site I linked will engrave the medallions with whatever you like, up to 5 lines. mine have two, in huge font b/c there's only two. there's easily more space for more info.

Today, I just want one that says "right side mastectomy and Pacemaker." I now carry a laminated card wit meds listed, and now will add to that the pacemaker info. I respond to medical emergencies all the time, having your name, date of birth, an emergency contact person, doctors contact info, pertinent medical history, say the last 3 years and a list of the medications you take on an index card or paper is the best thing you can do to expedite emergency care. Keep this on your person and I recommend a copy on the refrigerator the medics can take. Update every time your meds change. We are often faced with someone trying to do it from memory or they have all their meds in a box or bag for us to go through. We don't want to take your meds to the hospital with you, more often than not the hospital will lose or destroy your meds, liability issues for them. Prescriptions cost a lot of money and you don't need to incur that added expense

I found one at Walgreens yesterday for $19.99. It will do until I can find and order the one I want. I've placed the Pacemaker info (laminated) in both cars in the visor that also is where we keep the insurance cards and registration. I've also placed a laminated one in my wallet.
Jake...I'm thinking I'd like to get a link bracelet with an engraved charm for my 2 medical issues. That way I would be able to add to is as necessary. I've discovered as we age, there or more and more problems that we never anticipated. What do you think of making my own to order? and I can have the charmed welded on for safety.

sorry if I sound like I'm pushing the site where I get mine, but this company does excellent work. and, they are awesome with repairs. I've needed a couple over the decade+ I've been wearing a bracelet. this stainless link bracelet is $35, and the tags are interchangeable among the collection of bracelets. for example, I've got a hardy leather braided one that I wear while playing hockey. I've got a Swarovski crystal and pearl one that I wear when I'm dressing up, and this one's my daily - link (I'd have attached the pic, but the file was too big...?) anyway, lots of variety if you want to change it up. every single tag has the caduceus on it, so you're good there too.

She might be talking about the bracelets that are linked to a website or phone number they can call to get all of her info - way more than what fits on a bracelet.

I've been down that road JM.....it was a waste of time and money. As I posted earlier, the one time I needed the info the paramedic told me she didn't have time to call Medic Alert.
For now, I was just looking for an inexpensive one to wear for a month or so. I remember Laurens Hope and will have a chance to look at their site today. Chiv, send me a PM with yours if you can't get it to post here.

the pic's too big to attach to anything on this site. I threw it in my shutterfly share page and put the link in my last post ETA: seeing you comment that you want a cheap one to wear for a month or so until you figure out what you're doing long term - I used to have a cotton braided bracelet in my hockey team's colors. that lasted a few years' worth of weekly beatings before it finally fell apart. that thing was probably $15-20. I think the leather one I use for hockey now was $30? in any case, the coupon code that was in my inbox this morning is YULE14 - good for 10% off your total order, pre-tax/shipping.

I saw one that was silver link with a large Medic alert symbol on it. Have charms put on there would allow me to put current pertinent info, each on it's own charm, and space if I need to add more (please, no more OK).
The problem with the old one I have is that once it's on, it cant' be removed using one hand....and it was ugly on top of it. My rings are gold and maybe I'd go with a gold one. I still have more to look at on the website, and it's a great site!.

these are all alligator clips, really easy. I don't have any, but they do have gold ones. the engraveable plate is always going to be stainless though. just keep that in mind

I'm getting DF one and it has a different medic alert emblem on it so it doesn't just look like a bracelet . That worried me. DD worked as an EMT until she got the hospital job in Orlando area. She said they always looked and checked and since there's always three in the vehicle, someone can call and does.

love it! we'll match, except mine's sterling what do you mean by charms? like Pandora-type things for the info that won't fit on the tag? and FYI - the tags are all the same size.

Absolutely, that will cover any life threatening issues you may have, ie: allergies, diabetic etc.. I still like to have everything on paper though to back it up. We only have 2 in the ambulance and depending on company policies there may be no cell usage allowed. We recently had a transport that went out of state, burn victim. the radio in the ambulance could not/ would not communicate with the out of state medical control, medics did the next best thing, cell phone. Medical control would not accept the cell call because they could not verify or record the call.

I carry in my wallet list of meds, Mutual of Omaha supplement card & Medicare card (also laminated). We are fortunate that we live about 1.5 miles from fire dept with squad. When I called Sunday night they were less than 5 minutes away, 1 fire truck, 3 fire fighters and 2 paramedics. The FF did the "heavy lifting" while the Paramedics did all the medical work. Hospital is about 10 minutes away.
My biggest medical issue is now a pacemaker followed by take blood thinner Elquis. If its an emergency, I'd let them use my right arm for IV and BP, otherwise due to breast cancer, that arm is off limits.
Lauren Hope has space for me to even enter Pacemaker-see wallet and on the second line Medtronic Serial number 3rd line Eliquis
