Right now it is 3.33 where I live in Massachusetts. I think it has gone up about 20 cents in the past week.

I figure it'll be at least $4.25 here this summer, and that's without anything new out of the middle east. We're at $3.70-80 for regular right now.

The gas station I walk by every day on the way to and from the train station has raised it's price by about 30 cents in the last five days.

I'm in Europe. I don't know how high it will go, but I do know that if the proverbial shite hits the fan, there will be strikes here and I won't be able to fill up at all.
My access to the pump is more important to me than the price, because if I can't get gas, I can't work, shop, pick up my kids, etc. I usually fill up once a week, but when there is conflict, I fill up every two or three (max) days. I will continue to do so because I don't think things will setlle for quite a while.
Also, we only run one car, so it needs to have gas in it.

A quick on-line survey of my local gas stations show prices between 3.59 and 3.75. I'm not really sure what makes up the total cost - I think there are a zillion different taxes tacked on even in different areas of my City... So a gallon of gas could cost .50 and the rest of it is all taxes and surcharges and fees and who knows what else... Anyway, I'm gonna bet that the price at the Pump for Regular 87 octane will hit 4.49.9 and 4.64.9. I don't think it went quite that high the last time prices spiked. I'm still driving on $3.35 gas, but I'm gonna have to fill up probably on Sunday or Monday...

...I think I'm with debtheaven on this one, and figure we'll see supply issues long before we hit the price ceiling... but summertime $7.50/gal won't shock me at all...

I filled up yesterday morning for 3.39 and it was 3.49 by the time I got home from work. It's over 3.60 near work. I am not as much concerned with gas as I am with the price of fuel oil. I just got 100 gallons delivered yesterday. It was 3.55 a gallon. 6 weeks ago it was 2.89. Unfortunately, I need fuel oil year round as my hot water uses it. Depending on the temps the next few weeks (could be all over the place this time of year, from single digits to 60's) that 100 gallons will probably last about 4-6 weeks. I could've gotten more, but the thought of putting out $500-600 or more right now made me sick. I will be paying 1K in income taxes here in a few weeks. I just couldn't swing it. The most I ever paid for fuel oil was 4.55 the summer of 2008. I just hope by next fall/winter it will be a reasonable price again or I don't know how I'll afford it...

Wed gas here outside Chicago was $3.69.
If the strife continues in Africa and the mid-East I think we will see summer prices like we did in 2004 (I think) when gas here hit about $4.50. Also, the longer the strife the higher prices will go and last.

Gas here in Northern CA was $4 a gallon yesterday. I can easily picture gas being $6+ a gallon by the end of summer.

I'm betting 4.25-35 here in "Summer driving season". I absolutely can't wait until the finish the train station near my office.

Hopefully enough to get some SUVs off the road.
In all seriousness, I would not be shocked at $5/gallon (DC area) during the summer. Lets see how well people learned their lessons from last time.

Gas prices in my area are about 3.37 a gallon today. I have been using my Giant Food card to get a discount on gas. If you spend a certain amount at Giant Food they add Shell Gas points to your card. You then use your card at a Shell Gas station to get the discount. It has been helping a lot.

I believe DH said it was $3.60 here the other day. I don't know. I haven't left the house for a while.
But $5/gal here in Indiana will not surprise me at all. Won't be going anywhere either lol.

The expensive gas station around the corner from my office, with the Starbucks and dry cleaners attached is already charging 3.99 and 9/10s That's in LA.
And its not even summer yet. Once the nationwide average hits $4, that will be some sort of psychological trigger for the politicians to use this as an issue for their campaigns. But these protests in the Mideast wont go on forever, and gas prices will be back down by Fall. Somehow, our politicians will take credit for all of this.
You asked for predictions: nationwide average of $4.69 in early Summer

I agree with Dark and Urban. Around $4.00 to $4.25 in the summer sounds about right.

I don't know how high gas will get, but I know how high I'm gonna get this weekend.

Regular here is about $3.75 at the gas stations, you can reduce that by about 30 cents a gallon at Costco. I use premium and that's pushing $4.00 a gallon. You see a lot of Canadian license plates in the Costco line because it's more expensive across the border though the gap doesn't seem as large as it has in the past.

I am guessing it will be over 5 bucks by this summer down south. It is already over 3 bucks now

I'd be surprised if the average price for the US hit $5 a gallon.

I suspect we will see prices over $4 gallon in the DC area. In 2008, I saw less traffic in the immediate area, but when I drove down to NC to see my grandmother I-95 was not any less congested.

I'm prepared for it go up to at least $4/gallon around here but I won't be surprised if it goes higher than that.

I'm sure there are people sitting in a room right now trying to figure out just how much they can charge (speculate) for a barrel of oil before it completely tanks the U.S./World economies.
