The past couple of years, I notice my immune system sucks. I swear I catch every virus that is going around. I take a multi-vitamin along with Vit. D, Vit. C, Zinc, B-complex and fish oil. I get enough sleep. I am clean, wash my hands, and use hand sanitizer. What else can I do?
I am considering going to a naturopath? Thoughts?
Has anyone tried aromatherapy?
I have no kids and I work in a small office, so it's not like I am exposed to a lot of people.
Help!! I'm sick of being sick. (I had a stomach virus Memorial Day weekend and Thanksgiving weekend I had a cold.)

I wish I had some helpful advice for you.....but sadly I'm in the same boat. I joke that I have the immune system of a lab rat, and I rely heavily on herd immunity - so vaccinate your kids, folks! FWIW, I find that I do better when I'm eating healthily (little to no processed foods) and am active.

I'd probably going to a regular doctor first. There's several immune things they can test for before going the alternative route.
My constantly getting sick was the biggest symptom of what kicked off my autoimmune disorders of horror.
Oh, and maybe throw in a good probiotic since a lot of your immune system lives on your gut.

FWIW, I find that I do better when I'm eating healthily (little to no processed foods) and am active. I've found this to be true, too. Part of my losing 60lbs five years ago was cutting out most processed foods, but I've noticed that I get sick A LOT less than I used to. No supplements either. I think just eating real food (in my case fruit/veggie/protein) and being in shape helps strengthen the body. And no, I'm actually not as fastidious about hand washing (I wash them frequently but I never use hand sanitizer). I don't use sanitizing wipes at home or on grocery carts, etc. I'm of the belief that the more sanitized we try to make our world, the more we coddle/weaken our immune system. This is my 2nd year working in the health room of an elementary school. I care for vomiting/coughing kids every day. So far, I haven't caught a thing from them (knock on wood). YMMV

How old are you?
Your immune system is going to decrease as you age, it is just a part of life and no amount of naturopath or aromatherapy is going to help.
I'm 55, eat mostly unprocessed food. I am not as fastidious about hand washing as I should be, I very rarely use hand sanitizers, and I refuse to buy anything antibacterial. I was afraid that when I went back to school, I'd catch anything going around but mst of my classmates have been sniffling and sneezing and I've caught nothing.
I also do not take any supplements at all. I feel if you have a good diet, that they are unnecessary.

I am actually looking into this as well. I've had a cold for weeks now. Weeks. It's very unusual for me.
so, either I am getting really old or I am just taking really bad care of myself.
I am probably going to try some "natural" ways before investigating it with a doctor.
I am working on a few of them.

I've been to a doctor just a very few times in my life. Last I went toone a couple years ago was just to see what's going on: no unusual pain or suffering of any kind. Ended up doing useles tests for something that I aparently don't have. generaly speaking I eat anything(except peanut butter !) smoke about a pack a day, drink occasionally but I'm very active phisycaly. Rarely take anything for cough or a case of flue. i work mostly outside in open air. living in the US it always surprised me on how many pils people take for anything from a light cold to a headache. Teaches the immune system to be lazy or not care anymore. everybody uses "antibacterial soap or cleaners guaranteed to kill 99%of the germs? Do you want a bubble with that? here is what I typicaly do: eat pickles for nausea or upset stomach, a half teaspoon of dried rice for a case of diarrhea, hot tea or coffee for a runny nose, hot showers for stuffness and a lot of physical activity for the rest. Generaly people that have problems out of the blue tend to blame that on age. Sometimes is true but in most cases is a sudden change in environment or eating habits. Working in a "small office" can be the issue even if said place has been recently renovated. Many things(mold and such) get covered in the process and none care about it. Trying to eat as natural and clean as you can is best but there is an interim period when your body tries to change over when many things seem to make you sick. but since we live in this "most advanced society" there is always the doctor. On the way to the doctors office I sugest to stop at a hardware store and buy a shovel. You're gonna need it for the pills!

Going to the doctor doesn't mean you walk away with a shovel full of pills. My months of sickness ended up with two autoimmune disorders that would have killed me left unmedicated. It's more seven years later and I would probably be deathly sick in the hospital by now or maybe dead if I completely refused help from doctors and pills.
Is that the case for everyone? No. But at least if the doctor tells you something you have the information on whether you can keep fighting it your way or if you need medication.

Maybe your 'expectations' of being sick are out of sync with actually being sick... How long are your illnesses lasting? If your symptoms clear up in a day or two - you probably don't have a virus or a bacterial 'bug'. Being sick generally means feeling crappy for 5 to 7 days. Maybe it's just the people I hang around with but a headache = an in operable brain tumor, an afternoon bout of diarrhea (after a day of feasting/partying) is a stomach bug or more dramatically 'food poisoning', waking up congested that morning is a "cold".
The OTC medicine marketing seems to feed this kind of thinking.
Also to consider-- holiday weekends mean you probably spent time with people you don't usually mingle with (or went out in public more) maybe you ate more foods/different foods than you normally would and maybe you aren't on your typical sleep schedule. If you smoke or drink - maybe you are doing more of it which might also affect your health. Just a thought.

3 drops echinacheau/golden seal in water 3 to 4 times a day. to boost immunity.
Gargle with golden seal.
Check the humidity in your dwelling. It should be between 30 and 35 percent in the winter.
Consider getting tested for allergy problems by and MD; or do the elimination of food groups then readding them to your diet. Dr. Oz web site has the method for doing this. The big culprits are dairy and grains.
I receive no lectures on Dr. Oz. This is a reference only.
A long time ago one of the posters on here said that eating McDonald's ice cream can bring on sinus and ear problems a few days later. I have found this to be true so I sparingly indulge.

Eat organic live cultured greek yogurt and raw/ unpasteurized sauerkraut. Also, drink kefir. Either the t water or the milk form. There are some good ones available that are fruit flavored. I used to be the same way until I started eating this stuff. These live 'bugs' boost your immune system.

Bone broth is great for your immune system, tons of vitamins! Chicken or beef. Red wine, B12 too Eat your veggies as well, squash is a great one.

I don't do it. I don't feel I need to. If you don't feel it works or is harmful then don't do it.
I recommended the echinacheau/golden seal and oil pulling for a friend with swollen nodes in her neck. She said it worked great. The nodes went down and stopped talk of surgery.

I wouldn't bother with aromotherapy or a naturopath, IMHO.
I have an iron constitution. Hardly ever get sick - literally maybe once every two years. What do I do? Wish I knew, then I could bottle it and sell it for a bazillion dollars.
I would start, though, with a visit to the doctor just to rule out diseases that can impact your immune system, you would feel better if you at least knew there was no underlying serious disease causing your immune system to crap out.

I'm 72 and am almost never ill. I don't use hand sanitizers, just wash my hands as needed. I don't take any medications (other than a beta blocker for a congenital tremor) but do take a multi-vitamin daily and D3 during the winter months when I don't get out in the sun. I also take a daily probiotic. I don't take any over-the-counter medications, except Excedrin for the occasional headache. I eat well and drink plenty of water (not coffee, tea, or carbonated beverages, but water). I get enough exercise. If you're doing all those things and still getting sick, it's time to see your doctor. It's not time to start devising your own treatments. Some standard blood tests will insure you're not anemic, and let the doctor know what's up with your chemical system. That helps determine what might be happening and how to stop it. You don't have to walk away with a hand full of pills. What you need is to walk away with a head full of information and the mind-set to accept it and work toward any changes that are indicated.
