Good advice or just more irrational fear

We heard the same thing about the Zimmerman verdict- the impending riots and lawlessness. I figured it was bullshit then, and I think it is bullshit now- and I hope I am right.  Like always there will be bad apples but I think it is quite insulting to characterize a community- or more accurate a race of people like this.  Gun sales are up, there is mention of the national guard, etc. etc.  Gotta love the warning sent out:

FIL is a cop in the Atlanta area.  All of their vacation has been cancelled until after the grand jury releases its decision.  I don't think the area where FIL works is necessarily high risk for problems, but the have reciprocal agreements throughout Atlanta to help out and there is fear that somewhere there could be riots.  FIL also said that they do have some pretty militarized police forces nearby, one of them has a tank and was pictured in some article about the over militarization of police.

i am not sure if the fear is justified or not, but the police are preparing for it.

Well, we will see. I think they have shown their behavior in the past to be less than law abiding. I'm sure the few shop owners still dumb enough to have a business in that area and what law abiding citizens live there would like protection from the ones who use any excuse to steal and commit mayhem.

I think the police already know that no charges will go against Wilson.

The is almost no situation that the police will be found in wrongdoing.

An example would be police firing 300 rounds at a couple of women delivering newspapers. and not a single reprimand. 

But a two million dollar payout makes all ok?

The thing is - the people who will feel the need to 'riot' will do so no matter what the decision is.

If they feel they "won" then the rioting will be to show their jubilation - they deserve it! they won!
If they feel an injustice has been done then the rioting with be to show their anger - they deserve it! They've been done a disservice.


I totally get if a peaceful demonstration happens - but I'm not sure when gunfire, looting, violence and vandalism became anyone's 'right' not matter how wronged they feel.

The bad thing is apparently the police in this region are problematic, but in this case it appears that the shooting was justified and Brown was not a good person.
