If all true, the border parrol agent was smart in taking his own life rather than face the law and its consequences for his actions.

just in case anyone was wondering, i meant "no legal rights" in the practical sense- not the moral one.

I think most of us understood that. Just because she was a criminal, does not excuse him acting like one.

I have a feeling our border might be somewhat porous because some agents will take sex or cash as bribes.
Just a thought.
ETD: Fixed because I skimmed too quickly.

And yes, this was a horrific story. I hope their souls left their bodies way before the abuse and killing stopped. The patrolman was the only one who died.

Sorry Bills, I guess I missed they lived. From the URL:
Rather than detain the three Honduran women and bring them to the McAllen holding center, a 300-bed unit that some nights this spring hosted more than 1,000 people, Manzanares locked the women in the back of his Ford patrol truck—and drove them around the scrubland surrounding McAllen for an hour or two. It was a perfectly lovely South Texas day—sunny, low 70s, a bit cool for that time of year.
At 3:15 p.m., Manzanares texted his ex-wife, saying he wanted to be a good dad to their two children: “I want to help in any way I can but I am very limited.”
Then he stopped his truck in a wooded area. He raped both the mother and the daughter. He slit the mother’s wrists and tried to break the daughter’s neck, leaving them for dead in the brush.

I guess I skimmed too fast at work. I must have thought Mom's throat got slit. Apologies.

That is just.... evil.
Yes, they were criminally trespassing into the US. But the punishment for that is NOT rape and attempted murder. Not to mention, a Border Patrol Agent doesn't get to be Judge, Jury, and Executioner/Sentence-Enforcer.
I hate to say it, but, I'm glad he took his own life. Saved tax payers a boatload of money.
My only wish (if I got one) would be that he experienced being raped a couple of times first. (the whole "eye for an eye" thing... I'm big on punishment fitting the crime).
