I think it works.
Anyone is free to run with this idea, but I would like 92% royalties. I don't think that's asking too much.

Life dream shot down by a tiny speck in a ruthless universe. That hurts.

No, we don't walk away. But when we're holding on to something precious, we run.

My office's microwave is haunted today. I put my burrito in to nuke. Time ended, I came back and the turntable thingy was still moving when I opened the door. I close door, push clear and re-open. Still turning. I notice the turntable isn't seated correctly. Coworker wants to use microwave. Agrees it's freaky. She finishes, it's still turning and humming (just like it hums when it's running) and it's just odd. I pull the plug, figuring that will do the trick. While unplugged, I re-seat the turntable. Plug back in. Open door. Still turns when door is open. Now I'm like WTF? Kitchen starts to fill up with other coworkers wanting lunch. I explain what's going on. Youngish coworker decides to leave kitchen so he doesn't get nuked. We unplug again. Put plug back in. Push clear several times. Turntable still continues to turn after microwave is turned off. I give up and go announce to Dispatch floor the situation. Told to contact the building manager. I do. Which means he'll come ask me the questions I already answered in the email about 2 seconds before I have to leave.
The microwave is still cooking things too. I'm just hoping it didn't cook ME!

Stephen King book.
In Cell King taps into readers fears of technological warfare and terrorism. Mobile phones deliver the apocalypse to millions of unsuspecting humans by wiping their brains of any humanity, leaving only aggressive and destructive impulses behind. Those without cell phones, like illustrator Clayton Riddell and his small band of "normies," must fight for survival, and their journey to find Clayton's estranged wife and young son rockets the book toward resolution.

I would think it would start with Siri saying she's going to kill you. Then lead you to your death.

Love it. The Ring meets Annabelle.
