LOOKS LIKE WSJ HAS THE SAME NUMBERS!!
In contrast to previous stress tests, the ECB this time around also reviewed the quality of bank assets, such as mortgages, corporate loans and other investments, to determine whether they were accurately valued. That process resulted in banks being forced to reduce the value of their assets by a total of €47.5 billion, the ECB said. The central bank also identified an extra €135.9 billion of troubled assets, known as nonperforming exposures, sitting on the balance sheets of the eurozone banks
The European Central Bank and the European Banking Authority on Sunday unveiled the results of a nearly yearlong effort to assess the finances of 150 banks, identifying 12 that still need to come up with a total of €9.5 billion ($12.04 billion) in extra capital. A total of 25 banks technically flunked the “stress tests,” facing a cumulative shortfall of €24.6 billion, but most have already taken steps to solve their problems.
ADDING 9.5+47.5+135.9= (AT1.30 $/EURO) 250.77 BILLION USD

Great stuff ! Yes, it sure seems like these results were as bad as any of them.. How about this? 2013 was when the EU was "recovering". The econ news for 2014 has been recession, right? When piggs fly indeed!! Worse yet - amid capital flight the big news is that the war chest has been depleted to the tune of stimulus measures... What next after China’s foreign-reserve fall? In other words - as we previously discussed - China ether burns their reserves; or they let the bubble burst, send in the troops, move towards democracy, and start all over again. How is communism's track record again?

The PR campaign for Daxia Bad Bank sound like the 1931 Promo white wash PR released to pretend Creditanstalt in Vienna was solvent. Again I have a Bridge for sale.
deredactie.be/cm/vrtnieuws.english/Economy/141027_Dexia_VanOvertveldt_English." FYI www.creditwritedowns.com/2009/03/1931.html The Creditanstalt
Just as in May 1873 and July 1914, with tension growing among Germany, France, and Britain, the crack, when it came, appeared in Austria. In the early spring of 1931, a Dutch bank wrote a polite letter to the Creditanstalt in Vienna saying that it was obliged to raise the charge on its acceptance credits from 0.25 percent a month to 0.375 percent. It was a timorous letter, says Beyen, not a prescient one, and the bank was somewhat surprised when the Creditanstalt chose to pay off the loan rather than renew at the higher rate. Three months later the Creditanstalt could have used the money.
The Austrian economy had been in disarray since the Treaty of St. Germain of 1920. Its finances had required League of Nations loan assistance, which entailed international supervision between 1922 and 1926…Industrial capital was consumed in the postwar inflation, and financial capital in the unsuccessful bear speculation against the French franc in 1924 that produced failures of the Allgemeine Industriebank, the Austro-Polnische Bank, and the Austro-Orientbank, as well as the private Union Bank owned by one Bosel, with grave difficulties for Kolmar& Co., Kettner, and the Brothers Nowak. Maerz calls this episode "the opening shot of a series of bank failures culminating in the breakdown of the Creditanstalt seven years later."…
In May 1931 losses were still at 140 million schillings, and capital at 125 million plus disclosed reserves of 40 million for a total of 165 million. Under Austrian law, if a bank lost half its capital it had to "turn in its balance sheet," or close down. In an effort to rescue the Creditanstalt, the government, the National Bank, and the House of Rothschild, the last with help of the Amsterdam branch, furnished 100 million, 30 million, and 22.5 million schillings, respectively. But the announcement of the support operation on May 11, 1931, started a run, partly foreign, partly Austrian…
By June 5 the credit [for the entire country] was exhausted and the Austrian National Bank requested another. Still under pressure, the bank raised its discount rate to 6 percent on June 8 and 7.5 percent on June 16. The new credit was arranged by the BIS, by June 14 this time, but subject to the condition that the Austrian government should obtain a two-to-three year loan abroad for 150 million schillings. At this point the French interposed the condition that the Austrian government should abandon the customs union with Germany. The Austrian government refused, and it fell…
The demise of the Creditanstalt and the Austrian government was followed by a run on Germany and an attack on Sterling, which was depreciated a massive 25 percent as a result. Afterwards, central banks began a run on the U.S. dollar, liquidating it for gold. The banks included the Bank of France, the National Bank of Belgium, the Netherlands Bank and the Swiss National Bank. The result was an immediate need to increase the interest rate in the U.S. from 1.5 to 3.5 percent.
These events triggered further panics and bank runs in the U.S.. Later, the U.S. dollar was depreciated and multiple bank holidays were called to contain the panic. The U.S. economy bottomed only in April 1933.

... Moose Jaw? Nice one. Al C. just built tunnels... I'm pretty sure it's nothing but a black hole now, right? I mean, they can recapitalize all they want but it goes nowhere... As of September they started recapitalizing the banks in Europe, right? They swore up and down that it would create economic growth.. In reality.. EU Cuts Growth Outlook as Inflation Seen Below ECB Forecast Back when we were talking about it 3 years ago the ECB should have been funding the ESM. The result would have been something similar to the Feds successful QE programs. Higher asset prices give the wealthy - who make up the majority of discretionary spending - money to spend. The economy thaws, money trickles down, more people go back to work and start spending money and the economy keeps thawing. Capital projects go back online because of higher asset prices, people get jobs... At least we can still have the international highway from TX to SK and AB.. God bless,

A++++, Just like West Texas: The RR had about 25 miles of water max on float land. Steam is a pig on water: The clog Traction units to the top of Pikes Peak took water after SOAG Hill. The whole trip is only 10 miles long but a clime of about 25K feet. So the Soo meets CP at Moose Jaw: Just like Abilene, TX. The T&P( now UP)ran north of Steamboat Mt to avoid long clime to Buffalo Gap. There is a South to North RR that leaves Abilene and heads south to Buffalo Gap that is the only way to get the huge Wind Turbines to the Farm.
There were several Jewish Families that were in the Wholesale Food and Drug business in Abilene, TX that had a two way Trade with I understand family in the East. Problem was transferring money safely from one side to the other. Banks were not sound and it took longer to ship cash West Or East. So they shipped food to Abilene, TX and kerosene East. They would balance the books annually.
Just a thought, Bruce

No doubt steam engines used water. All those water towers that used to run along side the tracks... I didn't realize you only got about 25 miles though... Can you imagine being the guy having to clean the traction lines out?? Lol... The SOO line is actually owned by CP.. It's only a level I line though.. Is that what the line South to the farm is from Abilene? The mill is big, but not necessarily insanely heavy I guess. How times have changed hey? Easier to ship money in hard assets and square up once a year just because of RR theft.. It's going to be cool to see some of this stuff. Hope you had a good weekend! God bless,

The other line is UP. These track are now owned by a local firm
The Abilene and Southern Railway Company was founded on January 13, 1909, in Abilene, Texas by Morgan Jones. Jones proposed to construct 150 miles of railroad.[1] Construction work started soon and on April 23, 1909, the first official train ran the eight miles from Abilene to Iberis, Texas. From September 11 the same year, the road was operating from Abilene to Ballinger, Texas, a total of 54.75 miles, where a connection to a branch line of the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway was established. Finally, on October 1, 1910, a railroad from Anson, Texas to Hamlin, Texas (17.41 miles) was opened. Plans for further extensions to Sonora and San Angelo, Texas were dropped soon thereafter. Between Abilene and Anson (24.62 miles), the Abilene&Southern used existing tracks built in 1907 by the Abilene and Northern Railway and meanwhile operated by the Colorado and Southern Railway. The total trackage used by the Abilene&Southern was 96.78 miles.
On April 25, 1927, the Texas and Pacific Railway was authorized by the Interstate Commerce Commission to buy the entire stock of the Abilene&Southern which continued to operate the road. The ICC allowed abandonment of the Anson–Hamlin track including the end of the trackage rights over the railroad from Abilene to Anson on January 9, 1937, and in February that year operations north of Abilene ceased. The stretch from Winters to Ballinger (16 miles) lost rail traffic in 1972 and was torn up. In 1976 the Texas&Pacific merged with the Missouri Pacific Railroad and the Abilene&Southern ceased to exist on November 1, 1978,[2] when it was also merged with the Missouri Pacific. The remaining railroad from Abilene to Winters was later abandoned.

Lol, sorry about that. Late, and I must have been thinking about how all these rail lines are south of my location. From the sounds of it between rail lines, wind power, and fracking there is a lot of that very solvent Texas farm bank money going to work? Helping out a company from Il? WELCOME TO IRONHORSE RESOURCES, INC.

A++++, I WENT BACK INTO THE HISTORY PART OF OUR CITY DEVELOPMENT AND FOUND SOME INTERESTING FACTS OF THE DISTRUBUTION SYSTEM FROM ABILENE AND HEAVY HORSES PULLED MOST OF THE HEAVY WAGONS : JUST LIKE IN WWI. IN FACT MANY HEAVY HORSES FROM THIS AREA WERE SOLD TO FRANCE FOR PULLING AMO DURING WWI: FORT WORTH WAS KNOW AS THE HEAVY HORSE CAPITAL OF THE WORLD. The system for this was taken over by several local trucking firms. Just a thought, BiMetalAuPt

We were at a local craft fair tonight, well it's actually more of a trade show.. Got me thinking about soap again.. More on that later. On the topic of WW3 and the banks of Europe/China.. I wonder what we'll supply this time around?? God bless, Jordan’s King Abdullah: Battling ISIS Is ‘Our Third World War’

Merchants Fast Fright had heavy horses in Abilene, TX to transport good from the Rail head to the warehouses. Also during that period in time there was a large Warehouse district near downturn for wholesale supply for the Chisum Trail . During WWI Merchants FF made A KILLING SELLING OFF THEIR HEAVY HORSES BY AUCTIONING THEM OFF. WWIII WE CAN SELL OF FOOD!! AT A HIGH $$$$$$ PREMIUM. PRICED BEANS LATELY?ISIS HAS ONLY WAR MATERIAL THEY TOOK. JUST A THOUGHT.

, I hear ya. Im not read up on the players around here, but I know it was the same - from train to cart. It's pretty cool how originally trucking companies were run on sheer horse power. Auctioned for horse meat? We were at the WDM for the Festival of Trees two Friday's ago. There have an old steam train in there to sit in. Talk about a turbine! In fact, in moose jaw you can take a course to operate one. www.wdm.ca/trainingcourses.htmFood, weapons and fuel, eh? Like horses were fuel in 1, and cheese wiz was invented for 2.. From what I understand the I.S. is in the farming business as well now. They took hold of Australian research, fields and machinery.. I guess will see on that point. However, I have huge doubts that the I.S only has weapons they stole. I'm thinking the Saudis and other Arab nations are supplying via Turkey and Yemen. I mean just think, Boko Haram and Islamic State fighters in Libya are getting their arms from somewhere, right? On the insolvency front. European banks miss out on global revival Since we know banks in the East - China - are also insolvent, that means the global banking industry is once again insolvent, no? God bless,

Who in their right mind would want to forge pasta?? How much margin could there possibly be?? It's hard to be a head of the curve in an instant gratification, 24h Newsworld. At least QE3 is keeping the EU markets going? Libya, is in deep deep trouble.. War on the shores of Europe and there's excitement because of a debt extension in Greece... The EU banking game is more and more kick the can as seen in this small real estate German lender that has no capital left. This problem was caused directly by Daxia failure in 2008..That was 7 years ago and still not solved. Now Daxia bank failure is taking down the German bank Duesselhyp that was seized by BDB of Germany's Bafin.
