www.jsonline.com/blogs/news/117228243.htmlUpdated: March 2, 2011 7:49 a.m. Protests against Gov. Scott Walker's budget and the battle for access to the Capitol took a tense turn last night when GOP Sen. Glenn Grothman was locked out of the building and was eventually surrounded by hundreds of angry protesters, according to the Cap Times. The paper reports that State Rep. Brett Hulsey, a Democrat from Madison, intervened and tried to calm the crowd. The incident lasted 5 to 10 minutes and firefighters eventually cleared a path for Grothman and Hulsey to make their way to a side entrance to the building. "This guy and I disagree on everything, but we're friends," the Cap Times quotes Hulsey as telling the demonstrators. "This is a peaceful protest. You need to back away." Grothman downplayed the situation and told the paper he didn't think he was ever in any real danger. "I really think if I had had to, I could have walked through the crowd and it would have been okay," he told the Cap Times. "They're loud, they'll give you the finger, and they yell at you, but I really think deep down inside they're just mostly college kids having fun, just like they're having fun sleeping with their girfriends on air mattresses. That's the guts of that crowd." Here's the coverage from the Cap Times , a YouTube video (Warning: vulgar language) of the incident and some raw video from Madison.com Tuesday evening, Grothman appears on MSNBC and describes the protesters as "a bunch of slobs taking up the building."

Given the penchant for violence these left-wing unionistas have, I think he is downplaying the danger he was in...

Given the penchant for violence these left-wing unionistas have, I think he is downplaying the danger he was in... Really? I have yet to hear of any violence in WI. If they really had a penchant for violence, you'd think there would have been some after two weeks of protests.

That is scary stuff. I'm not sure I would have the guts to walk through those people unarmed and alone.

Glad to see you are well, cookie. Must be really weird in your state right now. I live in AZ. We are often under the public gun, so I am used to it. Best of luck to all of you that GET it. This is so much bigger than Wisconsin. Just like AZ border issues are SO much bigger than AZ. Hang tough.
What happened to the emocicons and who took away my fav-- high 5?

It has been for the most part peaceful. But death threats from Rep Hintz to Rep Litiens at their workplace is not exactly violence free. At least to me, it isn't. Link to story is in my last post .

Liberals issue death threats to conservatives all the time. I don't think they really see it as "violence". Now if a conservative talk show host mentions firearms on his show, NOW you're talking violence!

They found the rounds but nobody shot anyone and we have no idea which side is responsible so.. yah. Let me know when someone commits an act of violence.

It does for me to agree with your statement that there has been violence.

For instance - my neighbor owns a gun, but I don't accuse him of being violent because he also owns the ammunition for the gun.
