I thought you and Loop each had a car. Did you give yours to your Mom or something?

You could have at least let her ride the bike. (This sentence is just begging for an emoticon - I'm just not sure which one  .
Anyway, I hope you lose the loser moniker real soon.

... I did feel like a loser picking up my sick kid and making her walk home. ... Her walking isn't the issue. You riding ahead then circling back around her saying, "Can't you walk any faster" is what made you a loser.

Hold on: you have to get a permit from the police station to install an alarm? And pay for it every year?

We have to get a permit, no fee. Found out about it after police responded to a false alarm...we'd had it 8 years by then.

Guess it different in MA or I better find out. We just called the company, came and installed; and that was all she wrote.
The police responded to 2 false alarm so far and we haven't gotten anything about it.

In every place we've ever lived you can get fined for false alarms. They're like speeding tickets, some cops will let you a slide, but if you have a lot of them they're going to start ticketing you sooner or later. Maybe that is why they have ridiculously high property taxes. These things have to be funded somehow - so you can either fine specific people for the money, or spread it to everyone.
Not saying that false alarms are the sole reason, but more indicative of the reason property taxes are high. Opting to use property taxes solely over having different funding sources.

You should buy a lottery ticket. When you lose, it will reinforce your feelings of loserdom. The odds are totally against you losing, so when it happens you will know it's because the universe is truly against you.

the universe has turned against me. my dad is in the hospital with fluid in his lungs, and they believe it is the beginnings of congestive heart failure.

Day 2 (so far) - I was having my morning smoke and coffee when two guys came by and started eyeballing the shelves in front of the house.
You haven't quit smoking yet? Loser.

Working out helps with stopping smoking because you then realize you actually NEED your lung capacity. Smoking makes working out much harder, IMHO.
Sure hope your new load of inventory is not more stuffed animals!
Swamp, sorry to hear about your dad. Keep us posted if you can.

The deal with myself was when I got to the point my legs would carry me further (EDIT: or should it be farther?) than my lungs, I would stop smoking. I kept the deal.

I got my garage cleared out so I can start working out again, which helps for some reason.
Have you tried the patch? Worked for DH.

Holy vivid dreams batman! I'd wake up totally exhausted.
Yeah, that's definitely a problem. The other night DH was giggling so loudly in his sleep that he woke me up. I've never heard him laugh like that awake. It was pretty amusing.
But there are a lot of other times where he has awful nightmares too.
