I own 100 shares of AMAG stock which I got as a wedding present 20 years ago.
I know that the stock has split a couple of times over the years. I don't know how to assess it's value because of that.
I do understand that if it was a simple 100 shares that I could look it up on the NASDAQ.
AMAG Pharmaceuticals IncNASDAQ:AMAG LAST PRICE 31.32 DAY CHANGE 0.672.19% MON OCT 20, 201402:51 PMUSDDELAYED
I suspect it may be worth more than $3,132.00.
Your financial expertise and math wizardry would be appreciated.
Please and thank you.

The only split I see was in 1991, which was probably before your wedding, right?

Looks like it is worth $31.32 on the market close, but you will have to contact them to see how many shares you now own. I am surprised if you received 100 shares, it was not registered in your name, and you have not received any statements over the years. Take the certificate into almost any broker, and they should be able to find your new net worth off the cusip number, and a little computer digging, should let you know what you have. It would be a piece of cake, if you had any statement over the years with the company handling earnings reports to shareholders.

I've had the stock since 1994. I haven't actually looked at is since. It's in the fireproof box. Interesting that it hasn't split since 1991. The founder of the company is a family friend and has mentioned stock splits several times over the years. I was under the impression that it had happened more than once. Where would I look to see the history of the stock? You can tell I'm not a true YMer, I only play one on the boards or I would already know this.

I get something every year inviting me to the annual stockholders meeting that I sign and send back. Proxy vote? Other than that, I get the annual report which I look through to see if I recognize anyone in the photos and then recycle. I'm not even sure what reminded me of this today.

CNBC, Blumberg Business, etc. Usually there is a "get quote" button on the top of the page, and just enter the ticker symbol or stock name. Then you can move around, get a long term chart or historical prices

On the proxy material it shows how many shares you own, and if you get this you should be getting quarterly, and at minimum, annual statement showing your dollar value.
It is up to you to open them up!
