How do you negotiate with a purple dinosoar? That has to be frightening. I know a boss that is chicken to negoiate with some old teachers.

I think negotiating with Oscar the Grouch would be particulary frightful.

Sounds like a good step to take. Others might consider it.

To me, this was the greatest story of the day. If someone just sent me the text, I would have bet money it was in the Onion.

PBS and NPR...one of the best things on the air, C-span too, both daily and the weekend show's when they go to the Archives...so damn informative. At 2 AM a month ago I watched a live biography of a survivor of the 442 Regimental Combat team , formed 100% Japanese/American citizens, give his story of the battle in Italy where he won the medal, the Medal Of Honor..his history leading up to his enlistment, the internship of his family in the camps, the training, the prejudices of the times, the description of how he lost his fellow friends, as vivid as it happened yesterday, , the sorrow and the loss , remembering in detail almost all of them and how they died, the relief of th Texas lost Battalion that they rescued when the Germans had surrounded them, he participated. Nothing on the airwaves to compare . I actually thought of P,I, from these boards, how interested, rightly so, he is in these history's he brings them to us who are also awed and so interested in them, keep them coming P.I. If he had never saw the show how much I believe he would have enjoyed it. My friend, they get a lot more then 13 listeners and watchers on those shows, to bad your so uninformed .

Why is that? PBS is in negotiations with the union trying to get concessions... that is how most employers do it,not the Walker way.

They aren't in negotiations, they have issued an ultimatum.

They aren't in negotiations, they have issued an ultimatum. They called in a federal mediator. They didn't beg the state government to strip the unions rights. They have the nads to sit at the table, across from the union and roll the dice. Wanker Walker obviously doesn't have that kind of confidence in his negotiating skills.

Why negotiate? As our mighty leader stated " Elections have consequences". Governor Walker won. Now Democrats are hiding in Illinois whining about how life ain't fair. lol

Hell yeah! Payback's a bitch! True, but the real problem is that there's no one to negotiate with. They ran away.

Walker wasn't negotiating- he was just ramming through union busting he had NOT campaigned on. Huge overreach they WILL pay for in 2012. TYVM!

How can you say Walker didn't campaign on exactly what he did? He certainly did campaign on reigning in public employee pay and benefits. Yeah- we'll see YOU in 2012. 2010 was just the appetizer.

I love the "ramming it through" claims by Democrats whose party just literally rammed through the unConstitutional ObamaCare law. Maybe Repbulicans in WI should "deem and pass" the budget? Ohhhhh, but we don't want to remember that....
This isn't "ramming it through". The bill has widespread support when you balance the numbers. You can't poll 46% Walker supporters and 45% Democrat when Walker won the eleciton by 52% - 45%.
Well, a judge just ordered the protesters to leave-- and the clean up is going to run $7,500,000. Wisconsin taxpayers should insist the bill be sent to the unions.

I am tired of hearing "the right to collectively bargain" being in jeopardy. None of the new WI law, or this PBS deal takes away rights. You can collectively bargain with WI or PBS, if you want to. You can form an employee's union and tell either that you won't work for them unless they accept your union's contract. All these entities are saying is that they will not accept your union's contract, and will hire employees that are not part of the collectgive group. The current laws don't allow for WI to make the choice, the new law will. This opens up the ability for non-union workers (me) to finally have a chance to work for WI, without being forced into a union. The group of union workers will compete against the group of non-union workers, and the state will have to accept the group most qualified for the task of running the state government. I can assure you that WI can state that it's employees cannot be unionized, all it wants, but if 90% of the worker base refused to work for a non-union employer, then they would have to change their tune. The bottom line is that a "RIGHT" is not being taken away, abut mandate is being relieved.

Well, a judge just ordered the protesters to leave-- and the clean up is going to run $7,500,000. Only because it'll likely be done by union workers. Non-union Joe handyman would likely do it for 10% of that cost.

The bottom line is that a "RIGHT" is not being taken away, abut mandate is being relieved. Of course, you're spot on. And as another poster pointed out- it was Jimmy "Maylaise" Carter that did much WORSE to federal government unions than Walker is doing in Wisconsin. President Obama is supposedly siding with the WI labor union members, but I don't see him making moves to get federal workers up to the level of pay and benefits Walker is offering in Wisconsin. These union slugs up there should be kissing Walker's feet.
