The new era of discrimination hiding under religious freedom

Was reading a while back that after the gay marriage argument becomes part of history, the new angle of attack for the people that want to discriminate and hate on others not like themselves would be the 'right' to refuse service to gay people- as we have seen with the refusal to take pictures or bake a cake.

Now we have a new twist on it- the potential 'right' of a gun range to discriminate against customers based on their religion. Obviously this is not legal but here we are:

     "This is not a coffee and donut shop," Jan Morgan, owner of the Gun Cave Indoor Shooting Range in Hot Springs, Ark., wrote in an online post last month. "This is a live fire indoor shooting range ... Why would I want to rent or sell a gun and hand ammunition to someone who aligns himself with a religion that commands him to kill me?"

      Morgan, who says she has "read and studied" the Koran thoroughly, found "109 verses commanding hate, murder and terror against all human beings who refuse to submit or convert to Islam."

     "People who shoot at my range come from all religious backgrounds," she wrote. "I do not care about their religious beliefs until or unless those beliefs command them to commit violent crimes against innocent people and I witness those crimes increasing, as we all have lately."

Another Islamic scholar  And a fucking moron.

     "I understand that not all Muslims are terrorists," Morgan continued. "I also believe there are as many Muslims who do not know what is in their Koran as there are Christians who do not know what is in their Bible. Since I have no way of discerning which Muslims will or will not kill in the name of their religion and the commands in their Koran, I choose to err on the side of caution for the safety of my patrons."

On second thought maybe this lady is really smart- because I was just thinking that if I had a business why not ban Muslims or gays, make an outrageous stink about it, tour the right wing talk circuit, write a book about it and fucking cash in!  Look at Palin and Beck- they are their own fucking industries.  I would love to do that- get rich off of the rubes.

Jan could replace Muslims and Koran with Christians and Bible in the above passage and it would be true too. But she won't.

Someone needs to dig up dirt on her, like having

sex before marriage or other stone-able offenses found

in the old testament. If she was raped and didn't marry

her attacker that would work too.

Since she aligns herself with conservatives and is

a good looking black woman, I think there are greater

than 90% odds there is something in her past which

would condemn her by old testament bible verses.

Then someone could ask why she allows Catholics

on the firing range, and point out all the old testament

verses which suggest their religion is as

been more Catholics than Lutherans ignore what their

religion teaches and often come up with bizarre rationalizations.

Well until I moved here to central NJ, I didn't realize people would

have anal sex so they could claim they didn't have sex before marriage.

Would prefer to kill their spouse or cheat on them instead of divorce.

Also a Catholic thing.

Lastly, there are way more Catholics here in NJ compared to Lutherans.

A bigger of percentage of Lutherans exist in the Midwest compared to here.

It may be my Midwest upbringing, the Lutheran denomination I grew up

with, but I never heard of such things until I moved here after college. Its hearsay

of course, so perhaps statistics between the two are closer than I expect. IDK.

I do know most Lutherans I grew up with would just suck it up and get divorced

or stay married without the murder or cheating complications. Our dogma

in every service, I think, points out appearances are less important than what

is in our heart and what we actually do. So no style points for appearing to

do the right thing, when doing the wrong thing all along.

I think a big part of it is how Catholicism is practiced plus the difference

between what lay Catholics believe and what is official doctrine per the Pope

and Rome. If you are already dis-obeying official doctrine on birth control,

its probably easier to disobey on other points like pre-martial sex. Redefine

what sex is or isn't, and boom, instant alignment with doctrine ... or not.

Have no idea. I was speaking in generalizations which only work with

very large numbers.

In specific, it depends on the beliefs of your Mom and Father.

My Mom almost remarried in the Catholic church to her second husband

(died of cancer). She decided not to, when it was required for her to

deny her first marriage had existed. Since it had produced three legitimate

offspring, she decided it was silly to annul her first marriage, just so the

Catholic church could pretend there was only one marriage ... ever.

(Guess I'm trained to think more like Martin Luther and less as if the

Pope knows everything.)

Maybe we should just give everybody in a protected class some sort of ID so that businesses know who they are allowed to refuse...since it is obviously the case that a business is allowed to refuse service to anybody, other than somebody in a protected class.  Generally if somebody doesn't want my business, I move on because there are lot of options for different things.
