It is about time: Obama hates Texas not Canada.

In Nebraska, farmers don't want the pipeline running through their fields or over their water source. U.S. environmentalists invoke global warming in protesting the project. ... America doesn't not equal Obama.

America doesn't not equal Obama. Yes : Global warming like in the Permian Period when average temperature was 3F ( 2C) higher then the today. Best model show increase in temperature leads CO2 by 1,000Years.
Just keeping up with Data, BiMetalAuPt PS: Our ranch sits on two freshwater underground lakes (AKA aquifers) and has seven pipelines running above them. No problem the water is 500 and 2,500 feet deep.

Obama doesn't hate Texas, he's an idiot that doesn't get math or economics. Ya know, like someone who thinks shutting/restricting down air travel because of Ebola would be detrimental to the economy, but at the same time supports economy killing sanctions based on the religion if man made global warming. Isn't it going to be awesome to have all that extra farm land and CO2 for algae production? -Palm trees 'grew on Antarctica'-Vikings grew barley in GreenlandSeems like you're saying that it's time to pick up TRP and SU based on future growth, and the fact that Canadian crude to WTI discount is about to evaporate. 20 billion a year extra at current levels should help the bottom line. God bless,

So , you're saying it's a good thing I reinvested my dividends on the 16th of Oct in SU and TRP? Discounted prices to increase future gains - what's that?

So, you're say shitty strategy lead terrible tactics?.. Like draining your oil reserves/only real money supply while thinking your going to rule the world. Or perhaps something like the Iraqi Kurds leaving Iraq to go fight in Syria, whike they are under attack in Iraq.. Talk about spreading yourself thin...

A bit of back story. We've talked about the the military strategy of letting the ME drain their oil before really tapping North America's reserves. We also joke all the time about how nobama talks big about blocking the keystone, while the southern leg of it is built and shale production puts US oil production back at levels not seen in 40+ years. In all seriousness, if it wasn't for the strategy and tactics of big oil, the economy would be scewed right now because oil would be at 140 a barrel, at least. In other words - what's another word for irrelevant? Government.

I live in oil-rich Alberta (Canada) where much of this fuel is being drilled, extracted, refined, and transported to the US (and other nations abroad).
The US has (over the last couple of decades at least) been highly dependent on our abundance of natural fuel resources to supplement their own. The Keystone pipeline is a boon to the US supply, and an equal boon to our economy - at least here in the west, where the drilling and fracking of the fuel is an ongoing industry.

No vote issue + a complete lack of business acumen. As SL pointed out Alberta depends on oil production. The rectangle province I'm from is hitting it's stride with production, and BC is becoming a big player in LNG.
Someone who has even the most basic understanding of business should know that if an avenue closes down you look for a different street for your product. Especially if that product happens to be what fuels the world in which we live.

Is the Keystone Pipeline relevant now with BRENT under 80?
Thinking: it will take 5 years to finish and increase the production and refining systems. Price of oil ( Brent) will be much higher in 2021 as well as the State of the world GDP(IMHO) Now for LNG: the next generation Diesel will run on CNG like the Scania 5 cylinder truck power plant. NG is converted to H2 for Catalytic Cracking of very heavy tar sand oil!!! The demand for NG will increase:again much more will be used at the well heads like in the 1940's when " One Lung power" will rull the field vs just burning it. Stocks to Watch:SE, XOM and DUK & Royal Bank of Canada
Problem is time: By the time Keystone bill is pasted there will be a shortage of welders!!! Just a thought from Midland,TX office of Vintage Asset Trust!!! BiMetalAuPt PS: The new rail cars for very heavy oil are both bigger and stronger as are the new tracts for the Rail Roads. My great grandfather used the Wide tracks on road to carry the very heavy coal with his heavy 38 ton steam power to Oswego, NY: again this had its advantage in safety: they used three rail in part for standard and wide. four tracks would be very nice with the very heavy on the outside. (IMHO)

Transportation of Crude Oil by Rail www.aar.org/todays-railroads/what-we-haul/crude-oil-by-rail?gclid=CLbtmd3vtMICFUQLMgodb0cAfgIn light of increased volumes of crude oil moving by rail, the nation's freight railroads have done top-to-bottom reviews and improved their operations and federal regulators have issued new regulations related to how railroads are moving crude oil by rail (CBR). The result: freight railroads move each oil train under rules as rigorous as those required for more hazardous materials. Thanks to a nationwide rail network infused by years of major private investment reaching into the hundreds of billions of dollars, railroads are transporting what America's economy needs and helping the nation achieve energy independence. Route selection, train speeds, track inspections, and the training of personnel, all reflect today's high standards established to move CBR safely Enhanced Rail Operations for Crude Oil Freight railroads have rigorous employee safety training requirements and strict operating procedures that govern the handling and movement of hazardous goods, including crude oil. Federal regulation and self-imposed safety practices dictate train speeds, equipment and infrastructure inspections, procedures for how to handle and secure trains carrying hazardous materials, and much more. Railroads also use a sophisticated routing model, developed in partnership with the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to help determine the safest and most secure routes for transporting hazardous materials. Since July 2013, in coordination with government officials, railroads have imposed additional, voluntary operating procedures for crude oil shipments: In August 2013, DOT issued an Emergency Order and Safety Advisory to help prevent trains operating on mainline tracks or sidings from moving unintentionally. In August 2013, the Railroad Safety Advisory Committee (RSAC), a federal advisory committee that develops railroad safety recommendations through a consensus process, met to discuss attendance and securement issues. RSAC has completed its work and sent recommendations to the FRA for review. In January 2014, PHMSA issued a safety alert regarding proper shipper classification of crude oil being transported from the Bakken region. In February 2014, freight railroads joined with DOT to announce a rail operations safety initiative that instituted new voluntary operating practices for moving crude oil by rail. Advocating for Safer Tank Cars Freight railroads have led the charge to ensure flammable liquids like crude oil are moved in rail cars built to stringent design and construction standards. Railroads have proposed enhanced government design and construction regulations for crude oil tank cars and advocated for the swift retrofit or phase out of older tank cars. In 2011, the rail industry's Tank Car Committee, comprised of shippers, rail car manufacturers and railroads, voluntarily implemented standards that exceed those of the federal government. In November 2013, freight railroads stepped up the call for even more rigorous standards for tank cars carrying flammable liquids, including asking that existing tank cars be retrofitted to meet these higher standards of phased out if they cannot be made safer. seems to me the best time to build the pipeline and upgrade the rail lines is when prices are depressed. Like you said, at some point the resources will be needed. Lots of rig workers will need work with oil production down - lower wages? I think you could add SU and TRP on the list of stocks to watch for this project. SU is Canada's largest oil and gas company. Aside from owning Petro Canada, the use their natural gas production to refine heavy oil - like you always talk about. God bless

And yet the White House still says he will veto the program. I hope the Senate sends it back every year, and especially about August of 2016, right before the election.

Cleared Nebraska today so it will be interesting. At this point if he vetoed it, its purely because of pressure from his ultra liberal supporters. Gotta luv the rational of the keystone protestors; so OPEC has impeccable environmental standards? Getting oil out of the ground overseas, and shipping it here isn't adding carbon to the air? Canadians and American societies share many of the same values and the two countries share what is arguably the greatest economic partnership between two countries in known history. OPEC countries use their money to keep a monarchy alive, have terrible human rights issues, and since Saudi Arabia took control of Aramco - have been exporting Islamic fundamentalism, aka the wahhabist school of thought, around the globe... End OPEC support, keep sending the bill until it's passed without a doubt VB.
