That's a company rule though... I was pointing out that there's nothing ILLEGAL about it. Actually, it depends on the state. I believe, though I would have to verify, that in Illinois sexual contact between teacher and student is ILLEGAL in all public schools by statute. I seem to remember a hullabaloo about this on local talk radio going back a few years, and the teacher's defense was precisely this, and if I am not mistaken, it didn't matter because there were separate state statutes dealing with public school employees and students that went above and beyond the statutory age of consent. Might want to try reading my whole point. I understand in some jurisdictions it's illegal for teachers... I'm saying that it shouldn't be illegal JUST BECAUSE it's a "teacher/student" thing... the dynamic is similar to "boss/employee"... which ISN'T illegal.

I can always quite my job and get a new one. Most kids can't just switch schools.

I think it is wise to have laws against relationships.

(I don't think it wise, but see how easily that comparison is made?)

Now you're just being ridiculous to hear yourself speak.

That is the distinction between my statement and yours.

As long as the student is at or above the AOC... the fact of them being a minor is (or should be, anyway) irrelevant. If 16 is too young for sex... change the AOC. (personally, I believe it is too young... but my belief is NOT the law... nor is it the reality of the fact that kids WILL have sex when THEY are ready... not when we, as parents, are)

(personally, I believe it is too young... but my belief is NOT the law... nor is it the reality of the fact that kids WILL have sex when THEY are ready... not when we, as parents, are) This is an interesting theme you have going here. Rape is a false accusation a great deal of the time. Kids accuse teachers falsely a lot of the time. The age of consent needs to be lowered. Kids will have sex when they are ready. Interesting concepts. What line of work are you in, btw? Interesting way you have of reading things and getting the exact opposite. Rape is a false accusation enough that it affects the believability of actual reports - that does NOT say the bolded. Kids DO accuse teachers of stuff (I hear it all the time from The 11 Year old... "she doesn't like me", "I told her about {whatever}, but she believed {someone else}", et cetera)... but I never mentioned anything about that. The age of consent IS 16 in 32 states, That's a fact. I say it should be 18 - that doesn't say anywhere near the underlined. Kids WILL have sex (hopefully consensual!) when THEY think they are ready... whether we like it or not.
