Of course. Are you saying "nyah, nyah, nyah", or what, AgeOfEnlightenmentSCP? Kids aren't really suitable subjects to be exploited to make a political point, are they? They aren't to me. I'll leave you with it.

I had trouble for the link in the OP to even load - and even then it caused me computer problems - I guess "The Inquisitor" web page is the equivalent of National Enquirer - something to use to line your garbage can with.

Isn't "The Inquisitor" the gossip rag that employees of The Daily Planet insult?

Sadly, children being victimized by school staff is nothing new. Even back when I was in elementary school, a male phy ed teacher was let go from my own school for sexual misconduct. I DO feel sorry for the victims. I think now that reporting is better.

It may be the "good old fashioned double standard"... but... not every student that has a fling with a teacher is traumatized or harmed.
I think while those that ARE causing harm should be punished... "harm" should have to be proven.
Under the age of consent? Punish. No question. Had any effect on grades? Punish. No question. Was coerced or threatened? Punish. No question.
Is a student at the school, but not in that teacher's class, AND is above the "age of consent" for the state? No punishment.
The "age of consent" either applies to EVERYONE or it is meaningless. And don't give me any of that "people in authority" crap. There's nothing illegal about a boss and employee knockin' boots, and that's basically the same "power dynamic".
ETA: if 16 (where it's set currently in 32 states) is too young... get the age changed.

So another typical PBP twist to bash the government- no where in that article did it qualify that statistic to 'public' schools- he felt a need to add that.
But hey- still probably safer than churches no matter how you cut it.

So kids don't get sexually abused where they don't go. Sounds reasonable.
Following that line of reasoning, I think we need to keep kids at construction sites since kids generally aren't molested there. That will keep them safe. Oh, wait.....

I was pointing out that there's nothing ILLEGAL about it. Is there anything illegal about a teacher sleeping with an 18 year old student? I would guess not. It doesn't matter if a 16 year old is at the age of consent. They still can't consent to an adult over 18-21 (depending on the state) because they are still a minor. That would be statutory rape whether or not the adult was a teacher.

That would be statutory rape whether or not the adult was a teacher. Actually once a person reaches the "age of consent" they can consent to whomever they want. That's why it's called "the age of consent". You are thinking of the so-called "close in age" exceptions to under the age of consent... like in a state with 17 as the AOC, a 16 year old with a 17 year old boyfriend... if they knock boots, they could fall into the "close in age" exception. Here's a state that is a good example if that "close in age" exception - Texas: Tennessee sets the AOC at 18... but also has a "close in age" exception: Pennsylvania is kind of weird on it's AOC: Why bother setting it at 16, if you are just going to override it with another law (and a crap one at that... "corrupting the morals of a minor"? How is a 17 year old having sex with their 18 year old S/O "corrupting the morals of a minor"? Especially if they had been "doing it" before the 18 year old turned 18...) to 18 All states should just set it at above 18: unlimited consent, 16-17: age difference of no more than 4 years.

Frankly, this is so crass and out there it isn't worth discussing. What's crass, and 'out there' about it? I don't find 325 cases where teachers sexually assaulted children "out there". We've spent a LOT of national media time on ONE NFL player who abused a child- and while I do not dispute that he did just that, how does that affect the average family? Answer: not much. But many, many families have children in government run schools, and since the beginning of the 2014 term, there have been hundreds of cases of sexual assault of children in schools by employees of those publicly funded institutions. Why is it crass and out there to suggest that this deserves far more attention, is far more serious, and requires immediate action to expose and stop?

By the way- this is just the sexual assaults. I don't have information on other violent crimes committed against children by employees and officials of public schools, nor do I have information on property crimes, though theft of private property by schools was commonplace when I was a public school vict... er, I mean student.

I was pointing out that there's nothing ILLEGAL about it. Actually, it depends on the state. I believe, though I would have to verify, that in Illinois sexual contact between teacher and student is ILLEGAL in all public schools by statute. I seem to remember a hullabaloo about this on local talk radio going back a few years, and the teacher's defense was precisely this, and if I am not mistaken, it didn't matter because there were separate state statutes dealing with public school employees and students that went above and beyond the statutory age of consent.

The fact that anyone, anywhere would have to explain that to you, paul, simply justifies my statement that it isn't even worthy of a discussion. If others want to play into this kind of garbage and muck around in it with you, that's up to them. As I said, I will NOT stoop to it.

They have a lower incidence of violence towards children than the state, or parents in the population at large. The NFL players would have to act like moms to the kids. After all, children deserve a mother and father, right? In the end, we would have the feminization of the nation's children. Ergo, the end of the NFL as we know it.
