Today I managed to go to church at 11AM and go to work. While that was much harder than it might seem at first glance, things were going semi-OK until about 4:30PM on my shift.
I felt like my persona/body was about to crash. I've had a serious sleep deficit all week due to sinus infection not draining enough, sore muscles and pain from the temp job and its seems from my spine back pain.
I called my boss at both contact numbers and left a VM on one and kind of sighed when the second one(phone number called), gave me that Fax line sound. I did get a hold of the building Administrator, thank the Divine! Somewhere in between ... that Fax line sound and calling the Administrator , who had just popped in and left around 3PMish, the knot in my back(spine, very low back) roared in and I was crying from the pain. (My Chiro just worked on this, I think on Tuesday, so this is just not so good.)
So, I could really use some prayers, uplifting thoughts.
Tomorrow, I am supposed to work my last day in Princeton(bookstore gig) . And I might meet XBF at a cool café if he is available.

What I've learned from getting to Chapter 6 in the book, Stroke of Insight, when I am really exhausted I am operating on half a brain more or less.
The right side, artistic side, says I'm out a here, and lets the GPS/logical side operate until it goes down in flames...
So, I went below a 1/4 brain power somewhere around 4 to 4:30PM today.

If you're having lower back pain, a Chiro can (sometimes) do wonders (my uncle was one) - but you could also have a pinched nerve in the lower spine - which is what I'm dealing with right now. I went to my GP and got a very mild muscle relaxant prescrip, plus he told me to do the heat/cold therapy.
I'm alternating between heat and ice pack for relieving it - I've been doing it for about a week now, and after the first couple of days I was starting to notice relief. Today I've only had to do that once.
It was messing with my whole system. I was getting only 4 or 5 hrs sleep/night (2 hrs here 2 hrs there) all of last week . My legs were tingly and going numb on me, and my brain was not being nice to me - I was making a lot of mistakes, and either taking it out on people or somehow pissing them off. One friend is still semi-cold toward me for something stupid I apparently did when my mind was too messed up from the pain.
I suggest you get it checked out by a Dr. I might still be crawling around if I hadn't.

I'm sending best wishes and healing thoughts your way.
Here are some simple effective moves you can do. They don't take very long.
Can you lie down on the floor with your feet up on a chair? Knees bent. That really releases the back pressures and energizes.
The yoga wall to wall stretch on your back works pretty well, also. Lie flat, hands over head pointing at wall and toes pointing to opposite wall.
And, lay on the floor with a warm cloth over your face and concentrate on your breathing. Regular breath then breath deep so belly rises with slow release. Count to 5 on breath in, hold for 5 and breath out for 5. Return to normal breathing.
To return your awareness from internal to the room, wiggle your hands and toes, remove the cloth and slowly sit up.
I would like to know if this works for you.

Hope your back and sinus infection get better soon! It's no fun having to function when you're under the weather.

I don't know how easy it was to find in the OP, but I had an appointment with my Chiro 9/9, Tuesday, otherwise known as the last day of the 5 supermoons.
Sorry to hear about what you are going through, mine is somewhat similar in result, although thankfully the sciatic nerve is not aggravated at this time.

Sending prayers & positive thoughts your way! Lack of sleep can make pain hurt a lot more.
I've got an old back injury. One exercise that used to "loosen me up" was to lay on my back, & VERY SLOWLY, pull one knee towards my chest, then slowly put that leg back down to the laying on my back position, then SLOWLY pull the other knee straight up towards my chest. Note: if you feel any pain or pulling sensation when you're pulling your knee toward your chest, stop immediately, & slowly let your leg go back down.
I'm not big on taking prescription meds, but if you need pain relief, like SL suggested ask for a muscle relaxant. Although in my experience, sometimes they work, & sometimes not.

I read that Stroke Of Insight book. b Very interesting. It is amazing. My book club is doing it. Found out though, my friend who used to facilitate it(the book club), is reading it for the second time. We also read Biology of Belief, which I frankly missed a good portion of, because I didn't make all the book club meetings.

I'm trying to talk myself into OKness and catch up on my hydration. I think I have at least 40oz. to go, 40 or 52oz consumed so far today.
Some of it sounds like things I've done in the past especially the wall stretch.

Only one? They say it is the thought that counts. On that note: I hope you are doing better. I am. But I am also freaking out. Once I got to work my boss reminded me we were hoping to have a receptionist meeting with everyone at 4PM tomorrow. Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. -faint-eets
I never RSVP'd because of the day & time. I will try to come into pick up my new uniform shirt(s) and black blazer. If they don't fit, I get to guess which way I should order! (The good news is, I think me another non-FT receptionist might want to swap shirt orders.)
Things still suck and are painful at work. Even 4 hours was crazy making, but thankfully I made it and found a missing binder that contains hours worked for staff positions(not hourly!)

Is it " My stroke of insight" by Jill Taylor? I have that book somewhere...haven't read it yet though. Exceptional. It has helped me understand enough about brain anatomy that I could describe my loss of brain function at work accurately as operating on 25% of my brain and dropping.
When blood bleeds onto the brain apparently it obscures pathways and those sections of the brain become unusable until blood is drained away. Because of her description I realized my logical left side was soldiering on (and failing because I am fairly sick/borderline) and the right side was already on strike.

I may go to the clinic again later today, or my Wednesday food pantry run, or try to go to work, (as briefly as possible!!!).
This was *supposed* to be a work free day, Optimist recovers, etc. If I go in tomorrow, my first day off will be this Thursday, which is 17 days in a row?.
I really am annoyed by the fact it would be a good time to b at the meeting. I'm wondering if we will even be settled in within 4 weeks. The first two weeks so far are heck in a basket.
