I guess my new job likes me, because they gave me the key to my store I start managing on Monday! I have to admit, as much as I can't stand corporate BS, and this company is drowning in it, I like the job and being out of the house has its benefits. I am thrilled to have wrapped up my three weeks of training and to be home sleeping in my own bed again. I am also happy that I spent the time to lose weight and get fit, because I have to stand at my new job, much of the time, and it hasn't been an issue for me at all. In fact, I want to go hiking this weekend at some point. Anyway, thanks everyone for your support! I do appreciate it. It's nice to be a a "taxpaying citizen" again.

I'm really happy for you, shasta, and glad you can enjoy what you're doing. It's a big step for you! Thank you. I see it as kind of working for the "poor person's bank." LOL Next step/goal for me is to deal with a ton of bills in the next couple months, and when eligible after 6 months of employment, start dumping cash into the 401K. I am working on a budget this weekend, now that I know my take home pay will be about 2K a month. Considering I have been living on <1K, the "extra" will first get us a bit more healthy food, and then help to pay to fix my roof, catch up my taxes, etc.... I am trying not to be too discouraged that my first check was 95% gone before I have even received it in the mail... argh. But, I am also still doing some freelance writing to help with the added costs from travel and all that. And, I hear my store is really quiet a lot, so I can think of topics/content while I am there and bang-out a couple articles in the evening.

Congratulations! It's been wonderful to read of your progress back into a more stable job!
Will you be hiring anyone else or will you be holding down the fort yourself?

Congratulations! It's been wonderful to read of your progress back into a more stable job! Will you be hiring anyone else or will you be holding down the fort yourself? Thank you. I have an experienced helper this week. We also have our CSR, but everyone reports she is useless. The next week I will have just the useless one. Then it looks like I might be alone, other than a couple days a week. They are hiring a new CSR but haven't found one yet. Since I don't have a lot of experience, they are going to train them out of town like I was so it will be a while before they are ready to work. The good news is it gives me overtime, and I am all about that right now.

I'm proud of what you have accomplished. Good luck on Monday and each day going forward! Enjoy your hike! Thank you as well. I hiked to the top of the butte behind my house today, for the first time ever! It is steep and there isn't a trail, but I found some amazing minerals up there. I will definitely be making that hike again soon to bring down more rocks. I found sheets of what is called parrot wing chrysocolla today. It can be made into cabs and looks like it sells for a decent price on eBay.

I missed this the first time through. As a dedicated YM'r I'm especially happy to see the bolded part! So many folks would blow through cash when they first get it instead of sitting down and setting up priorities. Good for you !
