I've got a currency play for you.
USDCAD is down around 0.97. Canadian elections around the corner, and the (large 'L') Liberals and New Democrats are poised to make some gains.
I guarantee you that the USDCAD will rise 100bp for every extra seat either party claims in the House of Commons.
Hence, a carry trade on the CAD over the next 60 days could net you an easy 5%.

It's not a place for a lot of the talk that goes on in some threads, but I guess that's how it rolls, eh?
Market talk can mean *skeptical* talk as well. Or is this the pro-market only board? Is anyone really saying Old and Gray didn't know what he was talking about?

This is not the Job Crises Forum or the Moral Stocks Forum. There was a vote about what type of content should be allowed when we moved here. I seem to remember that at least half wanted anything goes and the rest wanted something a little more focused. Many of the people that are now complaining were the ones that wanted an anything goes.

Is anyone really saying Old and Gray didn't know what he was talking about? Comokate, Yes but there are more then one market.. Bond, Stock, hard assets and options.. Take the 50/50 or Barbell system.. Both do well in the "Skeptical talk" area,, Look at bond interest rate in Oct 2008!!!... The re-ballancer and BellBarr have both done better then stocks only for the last 10 years. will you bet at the 21 club on May 21,2011? Bonds and stocks are mutually independent Just a thought, Bi Metal Au Pt Attachments:

Nobody opposes skeptical talk.
People don't like intolerant, self-anointed experts and attention whores, no matter what line they take.

I'd like to see the personal attacks stop. I don't mind if someone disagrees with me...not at all. If they have a point to argue, I might ( or maybe both of us when I respond...hehe ) learn something. Calling me a "gloom and doomer" because I am a SKEPTIC of the idea of an average income person having their sole investment vehicle being the stock market ( I have never referred to anyone as a "pumper" or any such nonsense , so why am I called a "gloom and doomer", because I disagree ?? ) making personal attacks about one's income, alleged lack of education, intelligence, sexual preference/identity...etc. This is nonsense. If people can't contribute something of substance to a post, they should not post. Plain and simple. But that's just my opinion. I'm happy to stay out of threads I disagree with, why not stay out of mine and others?

Nobody opposes skeptical talk. People don't like intolerant, self-anointed experts and attention whores, no matter what line they take. That would rule out 99 percent of the people posting here

Neo and Kate Good points. But as to D&G and "pumper", they are not personal attacks. (my opinion) The other items that Kate mentions are attacks. Why not just call me "Kate", you're all allowed-

What bothers me is the D&G is supposed to be the ones that are skeptics, therefore is negative, and people perceive it that way. I never created that title, and think it's a way to negate a conversation, like using conspiracy, or take your meds, etc. I perfer we all come up with a new definition for those that would be considered D&G and Pumpers. Obviously these terms and labels are not appreciated by either side. I'm open to suggestions here that all can agree on.

If we argued the topics or debated the issues, labels wouldn't be necessary at all. By the way, I am a permabull.

Yea... for now. Your "financial acumen" is pretty transparent. Take a hit, feel like shit, change your tune when you tarnish that silver spoon.
USAONE... so start your own thread and stick to it. If others want to solely talk about stocks, they'll join you. Right now, folks are interested in Reality not fantasy... there are also many other markets other than stocks.

V_L If you dont want to talk about stocks because we are in a JOB Crise then why are you on a STOCK MARKET FORUM.
Neo I was not aware of the vote at the beginning of the Forum.
I have no problem with Doom and Gloom but it should have to do with some specific stocks.
If you dont like the stock market and you dont own stocks then why are those people here and posting?

Let's talk about trucks! I like trucks! January Truck Sales Jump 25%, Fueling Optimism in Industry Truck makers and dealers sold 9,236 Class 8 vehicles in the United States during January, a jump of 25% over January 2010’s pace, but about 2,500 below December’s strong results, WardsAuto.com reported. I didn't read the whole story because they wanted me to buy a subscription. sorry.

I have no problem with the D&G crowd.
BUT
Whats the play? Bonds...different stocks? Metals? Usually is Doom and Gloom and nothing else....there should be a market angle.
Working Poor....how does that relate to the market? Should I buy Proctor&Gamble?
Its just Doom and Gloom at no market angle.
Food Prices....whats the market angle?

Bottomline...
When I log on to a STOCK MARKET FORUM and people on the FORUM tell me they dint want to talk about STOCKS something is wrong.
When I do talk about stocks or KMAN talks about making money on a STOCK in the STOCK MARKET FORUM and gets ripped for it something is wrong.
