i am about 90% with this. but i think he is missing the mark about police brutality. it is never excusable, imo. I don't think he is 'excusing' it. I think like most sane people he's saying- address it when it arises, but get off the idea that it's systemic, widespread, and tantamount to a systematic genocide. maybe not- but i don't think he is trying very hard to NOT excuse it. ftr: i don't think it is genocidal either- but i do think that it is motivated by bigotry, in many cases. and yes, he DOES mention that. Paul- i said i was with this 90%. i just think it is a complicated subject, and he is treating it as if it is simple. that's cool. it sure as hell beats the crap out of blame whitey for everything. i just cringe when things sound like "don't blame whitey for ANYTHING". some things ARE our fault- not our "race", but our position in society and what we do with it. humanizing cops is ducky. but let's not get carried away.

There is always going to be racism and police brutality. But the problem is systemic and is because of the Blue Wall.

I agree- it's not an easy issue, and it's not a simple issue because there are multiple reasons why the respective sides have given up and gone to dig in in their respective corners. I just think it's refreshing to hear a black man admit there might just be some reasons why some- not very many at all- but some black men end up dead at the hands of police. And it's not all racism and cynical, bad, or otherwise crooked cops.

I agree- and to solve the issue, perhaps an officer ought to do a similar video speaking to the attitudes, and behaviors of the police that cause them not to be trusted in the black community-- or really, lately-- in any community.
