I've started collecting coins. Started with:
♡ State quarters
♡ then Territory and parks
♡ then Peace Dollars
♡ now Morgan's & trade dollars

There seem to be random chickens and flamingos in my home.

They peek out of plants, from behind furniture out of vases, on random bookshelves etc.  

They are somewhat discreet, but wherever you look downstairs, one of them is looking at you.

Dust.

I like dragonflies but don't buy them.  I usually cut and paste in a small scrap book.

I am in a jewelry beading group so these items are adding up.

After vacation tee shirts, I started with pins from states and events which took on a life of it's own.

I have a lot of sun visors and various baseball caps.

Both of us are bringing home items from cleaning up an estate like grandma's small cedar chest where important papers were kept.  A tossed aside barb wire sculpture.  A propane heater that was sold.

Things accumulate.

I'm trying.  It's bulb season.  I think that I've ordered more than I have places to plant them, so they'll be invading the veggie planters again this year.

Coins here also - (Canada) - I have a full set of the Centennial Coins that were minted for the year 1976, as well as a full set of the the special-edition 1988 Winter Olympics coins from when our City hosted the Games.

I also have a collection of several (maybe 30 or so) older and rare Hummell figurines (quite valuable) that I inherited from my mother.

These days, it's all I can do to collect my thoughts.

I've collected Victorian age textiles for years. I tend to favor the nightgowns and robes, and some of the underpinnings. I have a few dresses from that time period. It's getting too expensive, though, and difficult to find anything that isn't so deteriorated nobody wants it. I don't mind doing a few period repairs, but I don't want to have to remake the darned thing!

Antique tea cups/tea pots.  When I was 16, my gramma gave me a set of antique bone china tea cups & told me if I could take care of them, when I got married she would give me the china set to match (I did get it).  Then I had my great gramma on the other side of the family that did a lot of hand painted porcelain & she painted & gave me both a coffee set & a tea set.  After awhile the collection transformed into bedside tea sets (bot & cup sit on top of each other). 


A couple of years ago, my mom gave me a canister set for Xmas that she found in a junk store.  Turns out they were over 100 years old and a specific pattern that I could find.  So I've been building up my antique Blue Onion stuff since then. 

My gramma that gave me the bone china, also collected carnival glass bowls & dishes.  I got 1/2 of her collection (all the pink!) and have added a couple of more pieces.  But it can be expensive. 

I have a large quilt collection, but they were all made by family members & it's not something that I can add to with any regularity.   But everyone knows to will me their quilts because I will absolutely treasure them. 

I also have a random cow collection that covers an entire wall in the guest room.  It started almost 30 years ago when I got my cat MooMoo.  She was white with black spots & everyone started giving me cow stuff.  and I STILL get cow stuff even tho she's been gone almost 10 years.  For my bday this year, kiddo gave me a moo cow cheese platter.  tucked away in one of my cabinets is even an entire set of dishes that are white with black cow spots.

Believe it or not, that's not unique to you.

I have a niece (now adult with her own little kids) who collected (and still does) - "cow" stuff - ornaments, knick-knacks, stuffed toys, etc. She has "cow" salt & peppers, Mugs that are the black & white Holstein cow pattern, and even a comforter, area rug, and other assorted Moo stuff.

I have a bunch circa 1880s - 1910 but they take up too much room. So they're packed away. No idea what to do with them. Had antique phones (2) but loaned them to the local museum

I.... have a cat collection. like a shelf of cat figures of all sorts I've gotten from all over the place. I swear I am a functioning, non-shut-in member of society with a life (kind of), friends and a husband.

I also kind of randomly started collecting antique science books. I found a book at a neighborhood yard sale in Salem years ago that is a super old first edition geology text (my college major) written by a man who directed an older incarnation of the museum in Salem and has a hall there named after him. I found it so interesting. I've found several more along the way and it just became a collection.

I collect camp blankets. Plaid, stripe, wool, ect.. I love them! I hit up the SA this summer and got a few. I love to be able to use them for their intended purpose (camping) but they are great for throwing in the Jeep for cool summer nights driving with the top down, bonfires, fort building, covering open Jeep windows (when you leave them at home) in a rain storm or for leaving in both cars for the winter just in case. Kiddo loves to cover up with them on cool days on car rides before the heater warms up. Some day when we can afford them, I will get a few Pendelton wool blankets

Unintentionally-paper clutter, animals, misfits and other strays.

Intentionally-books, even though I haven't had time or energy to read for pleasure in ages.  My mother collected cow stuff, so after she passed away I took most of her collection since I had gifted a lot of it to her over the years, along with a lot of stained glass stuff.  Office supplies...always looking for the perfect pencil and organizer.

I collect crystals and smooth rocks - I also collect a LOT of books. I'm ravenous about reading.


I occasionally collect lint in my navel (does that count?)

I collect old cement yard animals.

Most of them are inside and I rotate for seasons.

Bunnies, chicks, and ducks for spring.

Cardinals and fawns for winter.

Squirrels for fall.

2 tiny frogs  are always in the bathroom , a chicken always in the kitchen, and three cats that move around.

Outside in the summer I have a giant toad and turtle by the pond,  flamingos in the ferns,  a duck on each side of the arbor and a raccoon that moves around. I didn't put the flamingos out this year.

I'm hoping to find a skunk for a reasonable price. I've seen him, he's cute !

I guess my lladros would count ... a dz expired ones made between 1960s - 1980s. Fills up the antique curio. No place for the tea cups. So I'm done with collecting stuff that takes up space (I swear I am a minimalist). That's why I am on to coins

DH collects coins. I'm glad he enjoys it but I just can't get into spending time at a coin show. He's on his own there.

"Souvenir pennies"-- whenever we see a "squashed penny" machine, we go ahead and make one.  I have some from when I grew up, and my son has a little collection he's built up.  I like that they are small!
