But I feel sorry for the cameraman. How the heck did he manage to get himself in the line of fire if only the police were shooting? Typically they shoot video from behind the officers.

I think all cops should be wearing cameras negating the need for a cameraman- but this was going to happen eventually.
I remember The First 48 being front and center during an incident- was just a matter of time.

Jurors in the trial of a Detroit police officer charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of a 7-year-old girl watched a video Tuesday of the police raid that led to the fatal shooting.
The shot that killed Aiyana Stanley-Jones in 2010 could be heard on the video, which was recorded by a crew from "The First 48," a reality TV show on A&E Networks. Officer Joseph Weekley's gun fired and struck the girl in the head while she slept on a couch.
Weekley was the first officer through the door. His attorney said the officer accidentally fired a submachine gun when Aiyana's grandmother reached for the weapon
Gotta watch those grandmas.............

ok! yes I laughed!!! after reading the initial story!
like I said - cops go around shooting people as they want!
I laughed because this sounded like a skit from the show Mad TV or any comedy show
Cops go in to stop a robbery in progress
of course - shoots the guy and kills him.
THEN cops get close to the robber and see he was using a toy gun and immediately realize
OH SHIT! we fucked up!
they all turn and look at the camera man!
camer-man realizes - Rut Roooo! I just recorded these cops killing this guy
as camera man starts to run away - cops shoot him as well!!

That's too simple for most criminals though. (for the record, in your scenario, the "fuck up" wasn't of the cop's making... it was of the criminal's making... for robbing the store in the first place. Smart cops would know this and NOT turn on the camera man or do the patented Scooby-Doo "rut-roh!") |
