This cop hit a non-violent offender in the head 20 times as onlookers pleaded with him to stop punching him in the head.  I've made my opinion well known on this topic before, but I feel that we need to have laws on the books to protect civilians from this kind of abuse- and the one clear and unambiguous law would be to simply give the public the right to defend themselves against the police.  Give an onlooker the right to physically stop this officer, maybe even use deadly force to stop him-- and that would put an end to this business right quick.

In Indiana, God help the police if they raid the wrong house.  They can be shot in self defense.  We need to look at enacting similar laws.  Officer Go Fuck Yourself in MO comes to mind as someone who might have behaved differently if people could treat cops like anyone else pointing a gun at them without cause.  If someone shot that asshole dead right then, it would have been completely justified if you ask me.

I made a similar point where a cop in TX got killed by the homeowner- typical no knock warrant and the person acted in self defense- and was justified.  I suggested that this should happen more often and police act at their peril if they barge in.

But really to me it is this simple- there is no good reason for most of this bullshit.  If I am woken up at 4AM with my door bashing in and someone yelling police/warrant- it is not my responsibility to determine if it is in fact the police- it is my right to defend my home.  PERIOD!  The only way to make sure that I or any other citizen does not have to figure out in a haze who is a threat or not is to stop this bullshit.  There is no acceptable reason for it.  Especially over drugs- or if you watched the Stossel show, freaking credit card fraud.
