I don't know anyone that's been robbed or killed while purchasing a gun, and I know several people that bought weapons from online listings. The person selling the gun doesn't know who you are, who you told that you're coming, and whether or not you're bringing a gun along too. Quite a few people that buy guns already own them. If the seller wants to meet in an empty field thirty miles outside of town I'd worry, but otherwise, meh. Besides guns are cheap. If they wanted to rob somebody they'd put up an ad for a car, $5-8k cash only.

I think I would rather meet them at a gun store or police precint- people get robbed all the time- but you are right it is usually high cash situations.
Of course, I support outlawing these transfers in the first place. Sad we allow it.

You'll never stop it all, no matter what you do; however, those who go off the deep end and don't know where to go to get an illegal gun will be, at least, slowed down. They're just as capable of doing something hideous as those who do know how to get an illegal gun. Going off the deep end means just that, and it can happen to anyone. So true - someone "going off the deep end" can grab the sharpest carving knife in the drawer - or even a screwdriver, a hammer, or pair of sharp scissors - the number of "unregistered lethal weapons" a nut-job or someone who snaps can get their hands on are endless - and they're not necessarily guns.
