I am cautiously optimistic after this morning's interview. I'm wondering if YMers have general advice for upping the odds for getting a second interview.
This is a unique position that will be a FT contract position. Part of it is helping the owners evaluate software to figure out food costs.
If anyone has any experience with food costing software for restaurants, cafes, bakeries, etc. please PM me.

It has been a long time since I interviewed for a job, but I would write a short letter (maybe email now, but we didn't have email way back when) thanking them for their time and express your thoughts on their operation and how you think you'd fit in. That's if they gave you a tour or description of the company and their needs.
Good luck.

Thanks Ken. I'm thinking of summarizing our brief interview and a few comments on what I'm looking at now.
He gave me a tentative list, but per his notes probably only two are appropriate and the last is I think their POS system which is serviced locally. Actually maybe three. See what I can accomplish today before there are more interviews.

Ken and older folks I do have another question. This boss was older than me. I am a bad judge of age, but I'd guess between 60 and 70. He brought manila file folders with him to the interview so he's somewhat old school even though he does have a new smart phone.
I don't have a new smart phone so any tips on how to make a resume readable or usable on a smart phone would appreciated too.
TY!

I'm 67 and don't have a smart phone. Never had a cell phone. Sorry, no idea.

If your interviewer is "old school", write him a thank you note. Best wishes on getting this job!

usually the format you send your resume in can be opened in a smart phone with no issues. I have no issues opening pdfs with an iphone for example.

My resume was originally sent as an attachment so I'm not sure if that was part of the problem or not. I figured I would send another message with it in the message body so it was easier to see.
