Here is what we are doing.
We are not buying a Tahoe or a new sedan. My dad just bought himself a new car today and we are getting his old one, a 2008 Outback
How is that for a good YMer? Huh??
Now I just need to figure out if I am ready to part with my 17 yr old Nissan.....

That should not be too hard: the kids are too young to keep the car "for they are soon old enough to drive and they will need one", and once the car is gone no more road tax or insurance and improved parking space. No brainer!

Congrats! While you may have preferred the Tahoe, an Outback seems like a good option for you. I hope you like it.

2008 Outback were actually terrible, I think they have major electrical problems.
We had one and exchanged it for 2011.
But, my parents are giving it to us for free, and hopefully it will last a few years and then we'll figure out if we need Tahoe or not

Maybe you'll be lucky and its a better than average 2008?

Nope, has same electrical problems - like GPS doesn't work and a few other things like that. Not the end of the world

I'm thinking melting spark plugs into engine fireball...
