he has received a tremendous amount of support building a police state there, both from inside AZ and outside AZ. sad. Maybe he wouldn't be so popular if the federal government actually did something about the US's effectively nonexistent southern border. Actually Joe is not that popular with the general population. But he popular with the people whom actually vote.

When these guys: became these guys: That's bunk. That happened in 1997, and it hasn't happened since. Those men had full auto AK's-- not something you get through the "gun show loophole" or "strawman purchase". Criminals are not vastly better armed, and more sophisticated over all. It was a one-off event and it's been used as a pretext, but the reality is that it's simply no justification for the militarization of the police- which I might add is nothing short of an illegal end-run around the Constitution which prohibits a domestic military police force- which is what we have. Funding and "cooperation" with the federal government is barely even window dressing for it anymore.

I saw that show- and the officer he was interviewing didn't seem to get it.
I have no problem with a swat team or special gear- which if I remember were normal cops that were on occasion called for specific incidents to assemble- but other than that were regular patrol.
Now it seems it is a specific unit that is used on a regular basis for things it is not required for. No knock warrants are the most dangerous actions they undertake and there is no reason that should have become commonplace. Especially for damn drugs.
The need to 'preserve evidence' is no excuse to throw a stun grenade into a baby crib or shoot to death some innocent person trying to defend themselves at 5AM when they have the wrong address. FIND ANOTHER WAY.

Why not? Figured you would be shocked I watch Stossel I like Stossel- don't agree with everything he says but I understand his viewpoint- if more people did that maybe our congress could actually do something rather than be a bunch of childish dicks.

If you watch Stossel, you know Congress "doing something" is definitely NOT the objective.

LOL, I'm listening to Rush (as usual) and a cop is on talking about the "myth" of the militarization of the police, and he stated as one of his reasons for wanting to be a cop, "...the comradery of working with other guys, you know I was in the military so I fit right in with the police". Um, buddy- do you hear yourself?
