I read her autobiography years ago. She had an interesting life. 89 is a good age to get to.
ETA - She was a strong woman. She was widowed at a time when women weren't generally self supporting and she went on to support herself and her children. Her film career wasn't really that remarkable so she turned to the stage and won a Tony and lots of recognition. She was a feminist before there was a name for it.

I know she was 'old', but not another one.

Another classy legend gone - she led a good, long life - I personally admired her work, and she played some gritting roles, as well as comedy - in some highly successful and award-winning movies.

It has, djAdvocate. I cried myself to sleep last night. I don't know I'll do that tonight, but I've been profoundly affected. Ms. Bacall is only a few years younger than my mother and mother thought she was the most beautiful woman that ever lived. It saddened her to hear such an icon had died. Her sadness only adds to mine. Sometimes, life is just plain difficult. The best thing we can do, I guess, is to cling to the memories and try to smile at them.

Its actually been a pretty rough year in terms of celebrity deaths. I suppose they can't live forever, though But there have been a handful of suicides this year which begs the question of why so many?

We've lost a Hollywood legend from the age of classic films.
I grew up hearing about "Bogey & Bacall". A beauty, but I LOVED her voice.

After doing a quick google to see a list of her movies, I've come to the surprising conclusion that I have never seen a Lauren Bacall movie.
Yet somehow, somewhere along the way I had developed a favorable impression of her.
RIP.

i actually cried when i heard Robin died. unusual for me. I did too. It's one thing to die at an old age naturally (and who wants to live to 90 any way? ) but to cut your life short when you are still young because of an illness that you can't fix or over come is just horrible to me. RIP and thank you to the both of you for sharing your talent with us.
