Are any of you affected by the fires and are you and your families okay? I believe Shasta is in that area, possibly Lonewolf. Anyone else?
We were at Suttle Lake today in the cascades of Oregon and the haze from those fires was incredible. The forest ranger we spoke with was talking about those fires.
When I got home I saw that several homes have been lost to the fires.

We aren't affected where we live. We spent the weekend in Bend, and south of that, as we drove home, the smoke is starting to set in. Our oldest son told us today that where he lives, ash is starting to float through the sky and dust everything.

In about a week and half I am supposed to go camping at one of the lakes along century drive outside of Bend. It will be interesting to see if we will be able to because of the fire restrictions.

Sharon, are any fires moving in your daughter's direction? Or yours? I hear Canada is getting a lot of forest fires this Summer, too.

The fires are mainly in the Eastern and Southern part of the state. We had a couple of wheat fields burn last week after being struck by lightening but we don't get the huge forest fires in my part of the state.
There are several fires also burning in the Cascade range and I am in the valley west of the Cascades. It is the Cascade mountain range that really divides the state between East and West. The smoke is starting to drift into the valley tonight.

We were in Terrebonne a couple of weeks ago and ash was falling on us from the Warm Springs fire and the one outside of Sisters. We were about 15 miles outside of Sisters today but the Ranger said with the way the winds were we were getting the smoke from the Southern part of the state and the smoke from the fire outside of Sisters was headed North.

Thanks for the updates. I have family in Bend, so at least I know that area is OK for now.

I am in the Shasta Valley area with the closest fire complex to me being the Little Deer Fire. Thankfully, it is about 5-10 miles from me and tends to get winds going east, rather than towards the valley.
There is a mountain between me and the fire, so I feel like it isn't possible to spread here. But, we are being inundated with smoke.
A fire fighter was injured in that fire.
The fire is burning in forest that is one of my favorite places to go get Christmas trees and take photos. It's sad.
The Scott Valley area, and down the Klamath River, there are many fires burning and many mandatory evacuations. I hear they have lost structures in the area and their small store was threatened last night.
We have a warning for abundant lightening again today, which is what started all this fun in the first place. For once, I am kinda hoping we don't see lightening today. The winds caused by the storm could really be a problem. And, everything here is dry as heck with no water/drought and no one able to do much watering.

Shasta I am glad you checked in and that everything is okay << fingers crossed >> in your area.
The Oregon Gulch fire down by Ashland is now 51 square miles.
It would be nice if the lightening would stay away for a few days to allow the fire fighters to get the upper hand.
