Saturday I flew with Pop Tart to take her down to spend 3 weeks with my mom and brother. The route from the airport to my mom's house took us within a few miles of Sum Dum Gai's store, so we made a detour. It's a great little store. Pop Tart got to help him finish building a marble run. If I had had more room in my single backpack for my trip home, I would have bought a puzzle. Instead, we bought Pop Tart a new stuffed animal (she had forgotten to pack her's), a make your own lip balm kit, and Schwings- which are wings that attach to shoes, and are very cool. I also got C an aluminum chain link dice pouch/Faire money pouch. It was great to have a chance to meet Shaun. I apparently missed Loopdilou by just a few minutes, which was sad, but we did need to get back on the road. If folks are in the area, they should definitely stop in.

@tbird - no, no, no. And luckily, Pop Tart is too young to get that reference, and most people who see the little wings on her shoes don't know what they are called.

The visit was way too short, but it was fun meeting another poster. I'm just glad you stopped in before the prerelease tournament. It was pretty hectic with 26 players in there.

Wait, do I now get to lord it over Firebird that I've met you in person and she hasn't? And, then, by drawing her attention to this, do I have to avoid her wrath, when she finds out I was in the Bay Area and went out of my way to see you, but didn't even let her know I was around? The reason the visit had to be so short was that we drove from San Jose to Salinas, via your store, spent a couple hours in Salinas and then drove back up to Santa Rosa (via the Golden Gate) on Saturday. Then back through Oakland on Sunday as we returned me to the San Jose airport. For the record, if your girls like animals at all, Safari West is a really neat place.

Have we considered the theory that maybe Sum Dum Gai made up Loopdilou? I'd have to admire the commitment
