... Why are we discussing Ms. Palin's channel in the middle of a thread about impeaching Pres. Obama? The OP is a Palin speech?

you know, i have to grant you that one. this also goes to the legal expression: "ignorance of the law does not forgive the violator" i will one up your aphorism, though. i think the person who does not think when they CAN is far worse. In the sense of expectations and disappointment, then certainly. I was using it more in the "results" sense. agreed.

Maher is a primarily a comedian that deals in politics- he is not in the same category as Rush or Palin. I wouldn't expect any threads about the guy except maybe when some people get offended by him like Trump and Palin did and then all of a sudden it is newsworthy- especially when Trump wanted to sue him over the orangutan thing.
He's a political talking head. Ms. Palin is a political talking head. Neither of them holds any kind of political office. They're professional (and I use the term loosely) ideologues with US media presence. They serve precisely the same role on opposite sides of the political spectrum, even if Mr. Maher's format is more comedic. The difference is that the conservatives here don't seem to have any trouble tuning out Mr. Maher. Or at least we're far less inclined to complain about something he's said. And the problem isn't that conservatives are paying too little attention to Mr. Maher, but that progressives are paying too much attention to Ms. Palin. DJ's justification is that he finds Ms. Palin adorable, which I suppose means "a spectacle of naivety". What's everyone else's excuse? Why are we discussing Ms. Palin's channel in the middle of a thread about impeaching Pres. Obama? Maher never ran for VP or held any political office that I am aware of. I really could care less about Palin anymore, but I did have a problem with her when she was a candidate. Aside from the fact she didn't have nearly the experience that one should have when running for VP & seemed to be thrown in as a token woman to attempt to appeal to women, I just hated that she gave professional women a bad name IMO. The whole winking, hockey mom, dontcha know crap was horrible. A man running for office would be a joke if he acted that way & I would be a joke if I acted that way in my job. Yet, for some reason it was deemed appropriate & cute for her to act like that. Seriously, that is the behavior we want in someone that is literally a step away from being president & representing our country to the world? As the talking head she is now, she can behave whatever crazy-ass way she likes & I could care less.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bimbo is a derogatory slang term for an attractive but unintelligent female. Similar terms are "dumb blonde" and "valley girl". The term was originally used in the United States as early as 1919 for an unintelligent or brutish male. The stereotypical bimbo appearance has become that of an attractive woman, often blonde and with a curvaceous figure and large breasts, possibly wearing heavy makeup and revealing clothing. However, none of these traits are strictly needed for a person to be considered a bimbo.
--- Just callin' 'em as I see 'em. If McCain had a clue, he would have selected someone viable to be his Veep and left her to hunt elk and possibly even finish her gubanatorial term instead of quitting. It may have cost him the election. Sure, the hardcore righties adored her as her sound bites fit their paradigm, but more rational folks thought we could be in trouble with her at the helm in case Johnnie coded out. Whenever she crawls out from under her rock, such as now with her tv channel, she just reaffirms my beliefs about her.

For starters, other than the fact Maher has been doing stand-up comedy since the 80's, he is not an ideologue as his views do not toe the party line as Palin's does. Second, his show has guests that are on various sides of the issues- even though he will take the last word. If you are looking for a Palin opposite look elsewhere. Not even sure there is one.

I've admittedly only ever seen clips of his show, but what I saw in every single case comports nicely with DJ's description: an angry, unabashed liberal with a political axe to grind. As for Ms. Palin's toeing the party line, which party line is that exactly? She's no more and no less aligned with the mainstream Republican party than Mr. Maher is with the mainstream Democratic party. Anyway, consider Maher and Palin to be in whatever classes you want. My point is that the more you criticize Palin, the more people are going to shell out $10/mo. to find out what she has to say.

Ms. Palin, is, as far as I know, mostly affiliated with the TEA party. As to comedic, I'd have to say she's just as comedic as Mr. Maher. I'm not sure, however, she's aware of that.

At least you, EVT, DJ, Don and others will be secret subscribers to her channel. "Just to keep an eye on her." You can keep us updated with phantom third party reports. "Well I don't watch Sarah Palin's channel, but I heard from Mabel across the street that last night she said..." Don't worry. I won't tell anybody.

Maher isn't on the liberal end. Angry- not really, a smart-ass- sure. He can be a little much sometimes when it comes to religion- trust me you wouldn't like him at all. But why pay $10 a month to hear the same thing she spouts off already to whatever press happens to be around to listen? I think she is just trying to squeeze every last dollar she can out of what fans she has left.

Believe me, Virgil, if there's one person in the news on whom I don't wish to keep an eye, that person would be Ms. Palin. She's of no interest to me, and her opinions are of no interest to me. The few I've read are, to me, comedic. Worth a giggle, but little else. Look for someone else to keep an eye on her.

Well I pay for cable And I am not happy about it- but of course in the 'free market' there is no alternative-yet.
Google fiber might be coming, and ATT just announced Gigapower is for sure. So cable can suck it after that.

Isn't the important point that it is utterly believable that Palin COULD HAVE said it?

HAHAHAHAHA! I hear her on Medved extolling the virtues of impeaching Obama (this is why she has been mentioned on this thread...as the leading mouthpiece for that fruitless endeavor), claim I would watch if she paid me, was chastised for calling her a bimbo, and now Virg has me as a subscriber. I'm beginning to think Virgy has a bit of a man crush on the bimbo.

I know about that- but the only broadband worth a shit I can get is cable- so far. So I got the smallest package possible and added HBO. I still watch shows that are on channels I don't have And until some company decides to offer channels individually I will continue to do so- not paying for 80 channels of shit just get a few I want.
