Half the chart should be: Divorce Lawyers will divide the assets of gays just like they do the assets of straight people.

More monogamy is a good thing. But, Paul's right. Half of them will soon be divorced and find out the real joys of wedded bliss!

How kind has history been to gays? Why were gays for the longest time "in the closet", and very discrete about their proclivities? Gay marriage provides government with a convenient registry...

I'd frankly like government OUT of the marriage business altogether. I'd like the government out of the business of tracking a great number of things. One of the reasons I would like to see the income tax repealed and replaced with something like the www.fairtax.org is that I like the idea of eliminating the need for government to know where we live, where we work, what we do for a living, how much we earn, how many kids we have, etc. I think our lives would be greatly improved if it were possible to achieve true anonymity.

You've already got gay people getting divorced and lawyers cashing in on it. Old news. But I am also for govt getting out of the marriage business.

A convenient registry for what? Anything the government might someday want to use it for. So what has the state or county used marriage "registrations" for in the past?

A convenient registry for what? Anything the government might someday want to use it for. AgeOfEnlightenmentSCP said earlier in this thread, "Well, I could have pointed out a darker possibility. How kind has history been to gays? Why were gays for the longest time "in the closet", and very discrete about their proclivities?"
So what do you think the government would specifically use the marital registries of gay couples for? Your comments sound very foreboding and nefarious. Do you think an American government might want to quarantine or put gays in internment camps? What type of American government would do that? I cannot imagine a liberal or progressive government doing it as they would have nothing to gain by doing so. They enjoy the support of most gay people. That pretty much leaves a very conservative/religious/overly nationalistic based government.
Your thoughts, as you seem to have some on this subject.

I'm hoping his concerns would be the same as mine. Why do they want to know? What business is it of theirs to begin with even? I do not trust the govt in any way, shape, or form. I think it is well proven that they are liars, cheats, thieves, and horribly inefficient.

Your concerns may be valid but paul's comments were much darker and portended something wicked could happen to gays specifically.

divorce rates are lower among gay couples than strait ones. I'm thinking that's because there are still few gayer people than straight. the divorce rate is determined by dividing the number of divorces by the number of marriages. but if you mean that there is a smaller pool of eligible partners, i had considered that point. that might be true. it also takes some gumption/determination to marry if you are gay.

No one in a gay marriage in the United States has experienced the "seven year itch". Let's give them at least eight years to catch up.

While some federal courts have said laws banning gay marriage in about 10-12 states are unconstitutional, gay marriage is on hold until federal appeals courts agree or disagree with the states in question. And one or more of those cases may go to SCOTUS. Even if the federal appeals courts rule in favor of gay marriage, that will still leave 17-18 states where it will still be illegal. Expect the southern states to be last to legalize gay marriage. Or it will be forced upon them by SCOTUS, much like the end of anti-miscegenation laws (inter-racial marriage) in the south.

So gays aren't going to get divorced? They are somehow immune or insulated from doing so? Oh, good to know.
