I smother mine in Italian salad dressing and can eat an entire bowl of that and I've been eating a lot watermelon and cantaloupe. It's in the mid 90's here and the heat index is always very high so it hydrates me and doesn't make me drowsy like heavier foods do. And my belly needs to go down some. Too much delicious Mexican food lately. <<drool>> Hmmm..if you put a cucumber slice in your beer would that be "healthy eating" ? Yes. And a side of wine would be a fruit like my limes were in my Margaritas!

I do have a weight problem... I yo-yo I can gain or lose +100 lbs in any given year. I decided to finally get to a weight I am happy with and stick there. I am thinking somewhere between 195-200 lbs. Good luck! I know everyone is different and all bodies are different but I lost 40 pounds over two years (30 the first year, 10 the second) by going the slow and steady route. Unfortunately, there's nothing sexy or instantly rewarding by making smarter food choices, watching portion sizes, and working out. Boring! Good job Meghan!!!

I like to snack on cucumber & cherry tomatoes. I don't think either one has many calories. I'd rather have something that tastes good and eat less than eat tasteless cardboard. Just drinks lots of water if you are still hungry if you don't care for fruits and vegetables.

WHY are you bothering with processed/doctored food? ? ? Eat the real stuff, and not dry, tasteless cardboard-y "food-like" processed substances. There are PLENTY of hydrating foods with fiber to fill you up - mostly fruits and vegetables. Remember that sometimes that "hunger" signal is actually thirst - especially in hot weather. If you are hungry, try downing a full glass of (room temperature) water, or water with a little lemon or lime if it will make it easier to get it down. Then wait 10 minutes. If you are still hungry, then eat something - you have gotten several good suggestions here.
I can sent you several recipes for homemade popsicles if you want. Made with all natural ingredients (fruits, vegetables, yogurt etc), low in calories and actually good for you. PM me if you want them.

Keep working out. You should be able to loose pretty quickly. How tall are you, I thought you were quite muscular. 195 is my weight at 5'8", I have to eat to keep weight on. You will find that after a couple of days, you'll stop craving what you want, and will be able to get by on what you have. Protein shakes and apples keep me full when I'm cutting weight. No milk, only water to make your shakes!

That would mostly be do of the fact I am always cutting or bulking and when bulking I go on a "see foo" diet. Since I am getting older (30 in 41 weeks) I decided to stop that and keep it cleaner; maintain the weight year round and if bulking do it in 20 lbs increments (mini-bulks).

You don't need to be hungry if you're eating healthy (dieting). It may just be a question of finding the right food choices for you, and staying properly hydrated (as has been noted.) On June 1, I decided to commit to a 3-month focused period of time to eat better to lose weight and to improve my overall health. Since June, July and August are already hot and miserable months here, I figured that was the best time to change my eating habits ... I'm already grouchy due to the weather and my wonderful DH's deployment, right? (My hope is to continue this long past the 90-day mark... but I'm trying to see what I can accomplish in 90 days, and I'm trying to establish some newer, healthier food habits.) Anyway, I'm on Day 38 ... so far, so good. I call it the "Eat Lots of Veggies and lean proteins so there's less room for crap" diet. It seems to be working just fine, and I've already noticed a significant improvement in blood sugars and a reduction in insulin. My asthma's doing better, too. I am counting calories and carbs and fiber and making an effort to eat as "cleanly" as possible for most things. I am limiting red meat to twice a week, if possible, and I'm eating fish at least 3 times a week. I get in about 8-12 different types of fruits/veggies every day. There's about 25 calories in a medium cucumber .... eat more cucumbers! There's about 1 calorie per radish ... eat more radishes! Broccoli ... very good for you and very filling! There are all sorts of wonderful fresh veggies in your store ... just eat more of them!

Are you counting calories? or sodium? Max 1500mg sodium per day. It takes a lot of label reading on EVERYTHING and this is a lifestyle change.
A lifestyle change will stop the yo-yo weight fluctuation and you will be a lot healthier.
PS: dark chocolate has ZERO sodium. Milk chocolate has a lot.

Day 1 of diet and it SUCKS!!! 89 more to go * I have $125 on the line for a weight loss challenge at work that I don't intend to lose. Speaking of food and Carl at the same time, I was at my local Krogers this afternoon and saw two women going through all the fresh strawberry containers. They started with one container each and when they saw strawberries in their container they did not want, they opened up other containers to take out and add only the best strawberries into their container. So all the other containers had less appealing berries. I told a store manager what the women were doing and advised I would never buy strawberries from their store again. Too many non-clean hands on fresh food.

A lot of people I work with are always trying to lose weight, dieting, taking appetite suppressants and a few had gastric bypass surgery. The ones that have been successful at losing the weight and staying at or close to their goal weight for a few years so far, changed their eating habits (and stuck to it) and some of them started exercising regularly. I can barely remember what they looked like before, I've gotten so use to seeing them like they are now.
