we are open right now, but we do have the option to be private.

as for time zone, you can change it in your profile settings (link at the top of the page). also, everyone please check your privacy settings as to whether email is hidden or not, your age, etc.

I was curious whether someone can be blocked. I have been stalked/harassed on a few of MSN's message boards for over a year by someone out to cause trouble for me personally, or disruptions to discussions in general. I'd hate for this person to be able to cause problems here too......

scottish, i don't think it's possible for one user to block another, no. but if there are problems then the individual can be banned.

Proboards is a pretty good free forum host. The options it has should meet almost all our needs. Many years ago I had a proboards forum and was very happy with it.

I'm glad to see you kept the structure of the boards as they are on MSN too. It will make it easier to transition.

Tex, if you use the Reply link, which is located in the blue bar at the bottom (or top) of the page on the right, it brings up a page with all the different formatting options and smileys. it looks kinda like this

Exactly what I am referring to, when I speak of some the old MSN Mods NOT enforcing the code of conduct. At least Moonbeam seems sharp enough to sort through our posted complaints about some of the old MSN moderators, and hopefully will not include them in this new forum, along with offensive stalking posters also.

unlimited, there's no way to block them on the board itself, thought is IS possible to block them from being able to send you a PM. you can adjust your PM preferences by going to the link at the very top that says "Hey, unlimited, you have X messages". click that, and look for a link on the very right side of the blue bar that says Preferences.

As far as who will be included for moderator, i am letting everyone vote. In fact, i'm in the process of getting polls up now. I can't say that no MSN mod will be one here. in fact, i think that many of them have a lot to offer. the major difference here is that there are no corporate (MSN) rules that have to be followed so i think that all will find it to be more relaxed in general.

Additionally, we do have the 'report to mod' feature, which is both a blessing and a curse to me, lol.

Greetings Administrators! I was just warned on the MSN site that I'm not using proper message board etiquette for posting into year old threads. Frankly I think I was warned because someone posted a negative remark in one of the old threads I brought up and the Moderator got annoyed and decided to tell me to "cut it out". I understand old topics are not against COC, and this place is more relaxed then MSN.
Example: say it's the year Jan 2012 and I go back to Dec 2010 and post into the topic "debating to go to work tomorrow". and I post something current in Jan 2012 about debating to go into work or stay home.

so question is - posting into old threads (no time frame on how old thou) is not wanted here?

I'm glad the moderator did explain the reason to "out" me and I respect that - but I guess I'm bothered because I don't agree? Seriously I don't see me doing this here, I have no reason to. unlike here - On MSN I wasn't around back then and the topics I found are interesting. At first I picked up on a comment from someone posting "don't think the op is still looking for that answer". So then I learned oh relevance to current times. and how to read public information like how do they know it's a old thread, and if the op still posts. then I only brought back subjects that we can add to like the "name the movie" thread. I had been doing this for months and others would also post into old threads. and now I get the warning.
