I am pretty sure the residents of Europe and Asia thought the "End of the World" was happening to them too during the Black Death of 1346-1353 when an estimated 70-200 million of their family, friends and neighbors perished.
Pandemics have occured throughout human history.

The life and dates of Saint Cyprian are pretty well known. If Saint Cyprian was writing in the present tense, and he seems to have been, then the pandemic occurred during his life time between c. 200 AD - September 14, 258 AD.

There is also the possibility that I brought up in the thread, Revelations: Truths Revealed. JC came back on the Romans for what they did, and this plague was part of it. The timeline fits for that.

Like father, like son? Didn't realize he was a vengeful guy like his dad. None of that "forgiveness" crap I guess.

Forgiveness for those who seek it, but a doormat? No. JMO.

As it was a disease it would have no bias, I would imagine. Also, this would have occurd durning what was known as the crisis of the third century. Basically the end of the Roman Empire that destroyed the second temple and tryied to suppress and wipe out Jews/Jewish Christianity.

Ah, nope it would be God that did these things to force the Messhia onto Rome. You are aware that the crisis of the third century is a historical fact right? This archeology evidence from the OP proves the part about a plague ravaging Rome as part of it. Also, you are aware that it's an undisputed fact that Constantine became a Christian and made Christianity the official religion of the Roman Empire, right?

Ahamburger said: "Ah, nope it would be God that did these things to force the Messhia onto Rome." But Aman A.K.A. Ahamburger previously said: " JC came back on the Romans for what they did, and this plague was part of it. The timeline fits for that." So which is it?

Roman persecution, crisis of the third century, Constantine becomes Christian. Nothing loose there, just proven historical facts backed up by archeology.

Convert or I will kill your people? You tell me? I just find it interesting the choices that God is reported to have made. I stay open to the possibility of accepting the Christian religion but things like this creep me out: God orders a massive hit, son carries it.

Didn't I? www.thefreedictionary.com/maieuticsI just find it interesting the choices that God is reported to have made. I stay open to the possibility of accepting the Christian religion but things like this creep me out: God orders a massive hit, son carries it. Bills, this is my problem with the whole conversation. It was Rome's choices that lead it to this point. Our free will is our greatest gift and just look at how we abuse it! There are some days that the human race is so sickening to me.... Rome had every opportunity to accept JC and the one true God, but at every turn they rejected God and persecuted his followers. At this point I'm 95% certain that JC spent time in Rome as a young lad and was instrumental in helping to create the era known as Pax Roma(No I can't fully prove this yet, but historical trends point to this being the case so I'm sure at some point it will be proven). What did the Romans do? After Augusts died they cast JC out and created cesar worship. Made Cesar(man) God. When the Jewish people rejected this, what did they do? Killed the messiah, imposed taxes, eventually destroyed the temple/Jerusalem, and enslaved the Jewish people. Look at the carvings on the arch of Titus and inside the coliseum, they immortalized their conquest in stone. Even after fire and brimstone destroyed Pompeii they still refused to accept the reality that they were going down the wrong path. So eventually things happened that made it so they had to accept the spirit of God through JC's teachings of peace and love. I think God is a lot more forgiving then people give God credit for. I know being a parent of four that I will let my kids push it and push it for a while, trying to guide them away from their bad behavior. But once they push me over the edge, I take away their toys, games, play dates, etc... Do they remember all the ice cream, toys, games, etc, that they have been given? Nope. It's, why are you doing this to me? Why are you so mean? Honestly, it truly amazes me sometimes how much adults are like kids, the only difference is that our sandbox is a bit different than theirs.

You have the free will to choose whatever behavior you wish but if that choice displeases me, I will kill you. And what displeases me? You not living in fear of me killing you. You not worshiping me for the totally incredible being that I am.

And what a terrible place the world would be if respect was given where it was due, and everybody tried to act mature and get along. So much to ask, I know...

Won't it be great for God to directly ask it of us and stop playing his little game of "free will" but eternal damnation if you don't use it the way I want?

Well Bills, as someone who believes that JC is the Messiah, God has asked us. Which is why the strongest part of JC's teachings are peace and love.

Bills, I already cleared that point up above. God, not JC is in control.
JC is the messiah or messenger if you will. So until humans get that this is God's house and we are to live by the pricipals of respect, peace, and love we will continue to have problems, like the big hurdle that is in front of us.
So again, we only have ourselves to blame for the problems that we have faced. God will let it go for a bit, but this is his house and we have to live by his rules. Which again are respect, peace, and love. Forgiveness is in the cards as well. I don't know about you, but I'm happy about the time and place that I exist in. I would rather be living now than during the Roman Empire, even during the period that was know as Pax Roma. I think our advances say a lot about how God wants us to succeed, just like any good parent would.

Already explained that, look at the last paragraph in post 27. The part about forgiveness. Also, without God and his love we don't exist. We need to earn the respect we think we deserve. Look at how humans treat each other.
