Things fire up in Brazil this week. Any predictions for the first rounds? Appears we have some tough competitors in our group. Thoughts?

Did you see what the Netherlands did to Spain today? A little revenge for 2010.

This has been a wild group. Should be interesting on Thursday. Nobody is getting an easy way out of this group.

what a tough draw Sunday night. all we have to do is not lose to Germany, right? or is there another possible outcome of POR/GHA that would push us through regardless of what our score is on Thursday?

If we win there is no issue, but if we don't it appears there are some dangers in a big win by Ghana over Portugal. This will be a nail biter maybe? And, did you see the news today? It would appear it is not wise to anger the soccer gods if you are Spanish. The plane with the Spanish team was struck by lightening just before landing back home.

It think cannibals should be banned from playing sports.

Lightning strikes on airplanes are common. It happened to me on a plane; and I agree some gods are vengeful and lightning is the tool.
DH searched cannibals on the internet and turned up a story in South Africa where a woman's ex BF and current BF were left alone. ExBF killed and was eating the current when she got home.

The video is 18 minutes long and explains what/who/how FIFA is. The title is: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver: FIFA and the World Cup ------------- Did you know that the medical people keep a sock in their medical bag to bandage head wounds. #6 injury.

Not watching the game, but getting live updates with pictures. I probably would have gone to a bar if I knew USA was going to put on a wet tshirt contest.

That was a disappointing loss. Our goalkeeper was amazing though!
So....go Argentina!

Today and tomorrow we move into the seriously serious. We find out who moves on to slug it out for the cup. The home team against the "Mannschaft" today. Robbin v Mesi tomorrow. Should be interesting.

seriously. I turned the tv on in my living room when I walked in from work, it was 1-0. went upstairs to start some laundry and waited probably 10 minutes to turn on the small tv in my bedroom so I could watch while folding what had been in the dryer. I couldn't believe the score when I turned that one on! this is getting crazy!

Ends 7-1, Brazil got one in at the very end. I agree, I thought it would be a closer game.

Go figure, DH skipped grocery shopping to watch and was excited and glad he did. I did get in on the tail end. I wonder if we will get the headlines or news stories as the Brazilian team members have "accidents". The Germans are probably not safe on the streets after being escorted out of the stadium.
