It's hard to believe it's been 70 years, isn't it? Most who served have passed on, but those of us who knew and loved them remember and are so very thankful for their service, and the service of all who were there, and who waited at home. Thank you.

My great-uncle landed on Normandy Beach that day. What he saw around him was apparently so horrible, he rarely spoke of it. I wish he had been willing to tell us more, but the whole topic really upset him. He was a hero to us. RIP, Uncle "Hollywood" (his nickname, because he was Hollywood-handsome. I have a photo of him in uniform; he looked like Errol Flynn with a dash of Clark Gable.)  |
