After living in Southern hot summers for 27 years, I still find the extended heat physically exhausting. Give me a New England summer any time. I don't find extremes of either hot, or cold enjoyable any more. (I think that's called being "OLD") Ugh. |

We went nine days with no daytime temp above 26 degrees. That is the longest stretch of extreme cold here in 35 years. Being older does make a difference in handling extreme temps, be they hot or cold. |

After 2 weeks straight of below zero temps here, I am definitely enjoying the current thaw. My stupid joints got so tight during the cold snap, you could've bounced a quarter off of them.  |

It was a rough go for everyone. My city just ended its boil drinking water directive after a week of doing so. The thought was bacteria could enter through the cracked water mains, cracked because of the cold. |

You just reminded me... our neighbors (the ones who spend eight months ripping out and rebuilding the inside of their house, then an additional two months putting in a pool) are missing this past week. Both cars in the driveway but no lights on. No clue where they went. They are not the most "typical" people in the neighborhood. A bit off center, shall we say. Nice, but....this meme describes them perfectly:
