This is as near to camping as I would get. Heck don’t even have to set foot outside!

If I go missing for a few days it's because I am building a few She Sheds in anticipation of summer storms and lots of lightening strikes. Must have more than one just in case!

A number of years ago, I bought a chain saw. I was going to use it for some of the more challenging shrub trimming. Reading the instructions it seemed like every other sentence in the manual said "mishandling may cause serious injury or death." I must have seen that combination of words in the manual fifty times. Never used it. It would be just my clumsy luck to cut off an arm or leg. I traded it with the guy who does do all my shrub trimming each year for a very reduced trimming fee. I have a regular customer at work who had a chainsaw accident. It went down his arm instead of across it. He spent a year in bandages from shoulder to knuckles. He got MRSA. He did keep the arm and it seems like the fingers still pretty much work even though they still have a swollen look to them. There's big chunk missing out of his forearm. My parents were nuts. Drove a tractor at age 6, grain truck before I was 8, Chainsaw by the time I was 13 as we burned 6 cords of wood a year. I'm lucky I'm alive I guess.

It's post like this that make me livid that I was made to live in city and didn't get a chance to experience all these things. I never even had a fireplace until I was 23 and we built our first house and I opted for fireplace - on the Gulf Coast no less but it sure was pretty for the 6 to 10 days a year we used it. My EX wasn't into chopping wood so we just bought from someone who did that for living/side money

Only way to go: Looks comfortable. Just make sure there's mosquito netting, and that you're "snake-proof". How do you snake-proof? This set up also needs to have the correct size trees spaced exactly right. I would like a hammock tent but the trees don't cooperate.

I would like a hammock tent but the trees don't cooperate. I have two long loops of 1 inch tubular webbing (replacing the small ones that came with the hammock). I can do one or multiple wraps around trees plus the cords on the hammock itself are long enough to make major adjustments.

I also got the feeling these were all injuries that happened in adulthood so his parents must have supervised him more closely than his wife did/does. ETA: They weren't all chainsaw injuries, just to be clear.

The fact that my entire body cracks like a glowstick whenever I move yet refuses to actually glow is very disappointing
