Milee thread reminded me of the episode of "Crisis" I watched last night.
Basically the show is about kidnapping the kids of rich/powerful people and forcing them to do whatever you wanted in order to save their child.
And so far parents have died or were sent to jail for doing what the kidnappers asked of them. Basically given the chance: a parent will do whatever is within their power to save their child.
Except for last night episode.
*SPOILER ALERT*
The mother at first launched the cyber attack on the USA and was ready to die for her son. But she got caught and they showed her all the victims.
She said: "you want me to kill my son"
Reply: " we want you to save many sons."
Basically she shut the thing down and they killed her son to teach her and other parents to come a lesson aka we are serious: you don't do as we ask, we kill your kid.
Rich or poor, when it boils down to it: every parent is the same. They would move mountain for their kids.
So would you do something that extreme? How far would you go to save your child?
In movies or shows you see judge throwing the law out so their kid avoid jail time, cops kids getting away with DWI or DUI's, etc.
But every idea in a movie or TV show comes somewhat from real life and I can see a actual parent doing that.
No kids of my own yet so not sure...

This is purely hypothetical since I am not nearly rich enough to have someone hold my kid hostage in exchange for world take over 
I'd want to do whatever it took to save my child. At the same time I have another one I need to think about. It wouldn't be fair to sacrifice myself at her expense.
Kinda like Kevin Bacon in that movie where he gets himself killed by gangsters avenging his eldest son only to find out as he is dying that his younger son lived. So the younger son is now an orphan. Was it really worth it?
It'd be an extremely crappy situation to be in that is for sure.

Wondered if there is a difference. Always wondered if one parent had to chose between the adult kids and the spouse, who would win? |

Actually I've heard a lot of kidnapping aren't rich for millions... More likely middle class for thousands... Because they can actually access and will pay that amount.
I actually do worry about that.
I have no atomic secrets, thankfully...
