Despite our minor problem of the flooded basement, we did have a great thing happen today. I found a 3BR condo at a well-known ski and golf resort in " Up North " that's been totally remodeled, is upstairs from the pool, has granite, king-sized bed, 2 baths, and nice furniture. There are 3 restaurants onsite, and it's located between the Mackinac Bridge, Petoskey, and some other nice areas. Our cost ? ( I am not making this up ! ) $ 125 per night. Most of the other units are going for $ 200 to $ 300 per night, which is still low, considering that they sleep 9-12 people. Our total cost, including trip insurance ( Dh's health and all that ) and early check-in, plus cleaning fee, is $ 729.00. I am stunned. And excited. DD is ecstatic, and DH will be, when he wakes up from his nap. The unit that I had been trying to reserve is taken, but he liked that one, and this one is practically the same, but $100 less per night.

We are "settling" for the last week of November and the month of December in Florida. Thanks to the winter from hell, everything is booked and there's nothing out there that I want to buy, yet.

We have a cruise/tour booked for this fall, this is a bucket list trip for DH. We know too that we have some big landscaping costs this fall, so we are skipping our winter trip this year.
Oh well, we may find out that this decision is a mistake, but at least having natural gas heat instead of a heat pump, we will stay warm.
Why oh why did we ever leave Florida?

Sounds awesome Nazgurl!
We are trying to plan a trip for this August but can't seem to make up our mind on where we want to go: - Mexico - Aruba - Turks and Caicos - Puerto Rico
For now we are just browsing and doing some online shopping... To see where we can get the best ban for our bucks!

We'll be down in Florida on Marco for two months in Jan/Feb this winter, but we had to reserve the little condo we're staying at in January of this year for next year. Zib's right. Thanks to the winter from hell, a lot of people reserved early.
