So sad to see such low participation in WIRR. Especially in NE I am wondering if we should tell the mustachians or the ynab people about this friendly joint.

I was thinking the same thing about WIRS. I understand that the purpose is to encourage us to start saving. But we've dropped from 20 to 8 active. Suggestions on how to rejuvenate??

on the No Spend Thread, we've dropped from 43 to 3 or 4 regular posters. I have the e-mails of those 43 people in my address book. I guess life just took over. I miss posting with them.

3catslady, did you notice there's a similar no spending thread on the smart spending board? Coffeegirl from the old msnmoney no spend thread is there with 3 others.

I was trying to do school and work... now just work, but I am working 6 days a week right now because we are short handed... I will be back when it evens out and I have more time- that said, I am doing well on paying my student loans off and paying the school for their mistake

I felt like a unwanted person, no one replied, no one spoke to me.
Maybe thats why?

Y'all are welcome to wander over to the Smart Spending Folder if you're looking for some more company and more nice people to chat with. We discuss debt reduction and saving and bargain-hunting and shopping and budgets and kids and cash and the weather and all sorts of things. There's even a Chat Thread that you can pop in and pop out of, as you'd like. Anyway, I am not trying to lure people away from over here ... just to make sure that you know that the Welcome Mat is always out over in the Smart Spending areas. ( It's really sort of a catch-all, "daily living, running a household, chat about money/spending/saving" area.)

gee, I thought we were nice people too. Not saying anything against Smart Spending, but I like the people here and I would feel like a traitor if I go over there. This is where I started 6 years ago and I hate to leave home.

Misplacedbrit, I'm a MisplacedAmerican so I feel your pain. I remember posting with you, a long time ago.
I'm truly sorry you feel that way. These boards are big enough that I'm sure you'd find your "niche". Please don't give up!
YM can be a bit harsh but the WIR board and the SS board are really kind and welcoming.
What are your financial goals at this point of your life? Maybe the answer to that question could help us direct you to a place where you'd feel better.

debt: I didn't mean that they weren't. Some of them I remember from the old MSN and they are great people. I just meant that I usually don't stray to far from "home". I was born in Bellefonte, moved to Centre Hall when 1 or 2, moved to Zion at 5, lived there until 21 when I married. Moved back to Bellefonte until 14 years age, moved back to Centre Hall for 7 years and now am back in Zion. I've been here for 8 years. All these places are within 10-15 miles of each other. I like "home". New places make me nervous. It's all country, small towns, and farming communities that I am happy in.

3catslady ... if you want to quietly tiptoe over to the Smart Spending Chat thread and chat about your 3 cats, you'd be more than welcome. It's a cat-friendly zone.

Molly: I was going to go over when the June thread started but it hasn't started yet and I don't know how to start a thread successfully.
I am a person that doesn't like to spread out too far. The closer I am to "home" the better I like it. I feel safe here. Nothing against the other threads, believe me.
I have "Smart Spending" on my bookmark board. And yes I "slip over" and read. When I feel comfortable, I'll start posting.

(stumbles in from YM and PM - looks around dazed) Whaddaya mean...you feel "safe" here? What are we, chopped liver? (Just kidding - seriously we bark but don't bit (much))
If nothing else, just go "lurk" on the other threads/boards. Sometimes it's just fun to stand by and watch

I've noticed in the past number of months that YM doesn't get the questions about budgets as it did in the past. I always thought those topics were interesting as I liked to compare what others thought to our situation.
Another thing I wish we had more of was us old retired folks. Many times our problems are far different than those who are still trying to make their way in the world, but please, don't hesitate to come over to SS or even the OT forum of YM.
We're really nice (mostly) and kind (well sorta) but one thing is certain, we're never at a loss for having an opinion.

Great advice from thecaptain. I'm not sure that I've ever posted outside of the WIR boards (and still, very rarely; see my post count ), but I read the boards nearly every day. And the YM board never fails to entertain.

Ombud: I meant to say something the other day but I forgot-got to busy-had to go to work-or one or all the before, coffeegrl isn't the coffeegirl from the old board. She is someone new but nice from my reads.
DS, as in (D**N SON) got me up at 7:10 this morning and asked me to watch the kids at 7:30 because DIL had to go somewhere and didn't want to take the two little ones (3y and 4mo). Today is my day off. I get up, get dressed, and brew my morning tea only to be texted later, like 15 minutes after DS left for work, that she decided to take them with her. (There used to be a K in front of DIL but I took it off. Maybe now is the time to put it back on?) Anyway, I guess I'll go get my groceries, come home and put them away and GO BACK TO BED.

So you woke up for nothing?
DS called me at 7 on his way to airport. I was going to get his kids tomorrow after school but now he wants me to take the baby at 8 am. I'm taking Friday off for them but now I'm giving up my day off too ?!?!?
DD told me that I dont do anything for her kids. My house would rent for 3k. She gives me $650 which equals their cell phones, utilities, music activities.

Ombud, I think our lives would be boring without our "kids". I'd get a lot more decluttering done I reached retirement age 2 years ago but I haven't seen a day of it yet. I either work at the store to pay my bills or I am watching their kids while she goes to college and he works 2 jobs. Their oldest at home is 14 and they don't really trust her with a set of 7 yo twins, a 3 yo and a 4 mo old baby. So I am over there to sort of referee and take care of the baby. I'm not allowed to correct any of the kids but they listen when Nan talks. They don't like it when I am upset so I have some sort of control. Other than that, I let them do as they please short of bloodshed.

I have only 1 son. I bought this house with the understanding that the 3 adults would work and each pay 1/3 of all the bills. 3 weeks after I signed the mortgage papers, DIL quit work, got pregnant and has been that way or going to college ever since. Was I a fool, assuming they would keep their part of the bargain. And no, I won't put my grandchildren out in the streets because they have lousy parents. I'll find some way to keep going. I always have, even after my husband died.

Ombud, that's how it is with my DB. He gets jealous if mom does anything for me, even, though I,let her move in,with me and take care of her.
