But then, I live in a city where Domino's Pizza is voted the best pizza in the city.

The Fluffanuttah! Fluff was invented down the street from me in good ol' Lynn, MA. Clam chowdah, frappes (mmm...frappe), fried clams. So many good things!! Interesting side note - we saw 'grinder' on a menu in CT the other day and my DH (who's from Jersey) had no idea what that meant. I thought it was a NY thing (we call them subs). Anyone? Around here, grinder means toasted. A hoagie put in the oven is a grinder. A grinder elsewhere is just a normal cold hoagie.

Back in the early '60s in western Massachusetts, we called subs 'grinders'.

My mom's family is from the midwest and one of the dishes that I remember fondly from visiting my grandmother there was chicken and noodles. It wasn't just ANY chicken and noodles though.....the noodles were home made, and cooked with a stewing hen for a long time. It wound up being a thick noodle stew that was served over mashed potatoes. Noodles took a dozen egg yolks to make, so the accompanying dessert was angel food cake to use a dozen egg whites. Total carb overload, but I'm craving that right now like you wouldn't believe! My ex's grandmother made chicken and noodles and taught me. She started with 3 whole chickens. Divide chickens into 3 stacks, legs and thighs, breast then the rest went in the pot so backs, wings and necks. The meaty pieces were saved for another day. Boil the bony pieces for a few hours remove the bones and skin and return meat to the pot. A large bowl of flour would have a dent in the center to fill with egg don't remember removing the whites but might have been just yokes. Salt was added don't think anything else maybe some water or milk then start pushing flour into the eggs until the dough was right even if some flour was left. We rolled it out and cut it then laid it to dry before adding to the chicken. It was thick from the flour getting in the chicken broth but served over mashed potatoes. She was from Ohio but lived in Michigan, farm girl cooking skills.

It's spiced beef and cabbage wrapped up in dough. They tear me up but I know Runza has some serious die hard followers.
Runza is the trademarked name of the fast food chain that serves them but I believe the dish was brought to the area by German immigrants.
